Budget £1600, asking the community for their thoughts and any recommendations to change components since its my first time getting a PC built.

There is quite a bit that could be optimised with this build and £1600 is a nice price point. Can I ask what monitor you'll be using and what this machine will be used for?

You've over specced the motherboard for the CPU, if the machine is gaming focused then 3200Mhz RAM would have been ideal. You can get a better cooler for not much more the cost or if cost saving is important the standard AMD CPU cooler is just as adequate as the Coolermaster 212

I would also change the wireless card to the AX200, it's a much better card offers better range and 5Ghz bandwidth as well as Bluetooth.

I would also go for at least 750W PSU because the new GPU's seem to be really thirsty when it comes to power and I reckon it'll only get worse going forward

Can you also post a link to the build, can be done by following the instructions below

@Steveyg. I wonder if the OP should take your spec and switch to the 3070. The 6700XT has 12GB but I'd still take the 3070 over it, especially when the 3070 seems to cost £41 less on the PCS configurator!

Hi, thanks for the fast reply, i have a 1080 144hz monitor for mostly simulation games and some fps gaming. ive ammended my order to change the motherboard to b550 TUF , Ram (3600 to 3200) and also upgraded the PSU to 750W and wireless card to AX200 however i decided to keep the coolmaster 212 as reviews online suggests good performance for its price.

With that monitor, you'd be better off with going for something like a 2060, the performance will match a lot better and you won't be bottlenecking your GPU.

Taken Stevey's build and done some messing around. I saw you had the TD500, with the GPU adjustment you're able to go back to that Case. Swapped to the 2060 as explained above. Added a wayyy faster 500GB SSD boot drive then kept the 1TB SSD as a games drive and added a 2TB HDD for general files. Upped the PSU by 100W and also recommended the CM240mm. You will get better temps with the AIO and it's also good performance per pound, but if you'd prefer the 212, I think that's fair (I've had one and never had any issues on an i7-8700).

This is a little way off your budget, if you're wanting to get closer you could add a TB to the games drive or someone might be able to get it closer or even squeeze in a 5800X build for you but this will be a pretty solid spec for your needs.
