hello

you have lots of laptops....but only 2-3 chasis....

I have seen your reviews....of the machines...etc......lots of them.......

they run too hot.....and the screen quality is not good...just ok ...and the bleeding is awful

i dont understand why

i am not here to bash you.....you are the good guys...dell and many other companies are awful price for performance

this is what i would like in a laptop....

no need 6 cores...too expensive.....4 with overthreading is ok

top noch screen.....17 inches....... qhd .....uhd looks too small.....

higher refresh rates than 60 for the qhd screen

a decent graphics card

SUPER GOOD COOLING......for the chip.....there are nice quad mobile cpus .....with 25tdp ....there is this 8656u model for instance......runs cool......get a gtx 1060 .... and a super IPS screen

the whole industry model is warped......nobody needs a 6 core laptop with a 1080gtx......that is a oven really to cook a steak......well done......

the reviews i have seen online.......about you....

pro----cheap and powerfull laptops
cons----screen bleeding ...too hot and crap brightness........

why cant you do both?.....excellent screens....and cooling...and mobile cpu....quad core hyperthreadind u models......

all industry doing the same..... big ...expensive...powefull ...FAR TOO hot

or plastic ....**** screen crap....still hot....

there is a market you forgot and all manufacturesrs forget....dell is starting to do it with the cinema laptop inspiron ( but it has a really crap GRAPHICS and £1300 min price

i want a decent cpu....a super bright screen to watch movies and maybe higher refresh rates......and a decent graphics card that i can use on my lap...for 5 minutes before getting heat castrated

AMD nor Intel do quad cores anymore on their gaming laptops and desktop chips, 6 is the minimum, cores has zero effect on cooling, that's down to the fact that Intel can't afford to move up to 10nm so are trying their best to squeeze out as much performance as possible out of 14nm, and they've taken it too far.

Really, I think your questions are aimed at PCSpecialist, no one on the forums will be able to help, you'll need to give them a call to discuss your options.

But you won't be able to get a quad core chip with dedicated gaming graphics, just doesn't exist.

thank you for your answer

i just thought i was talking to the same company......this are their forums,,,if the company dont listen here to ideas ....what are the forums for????

apparently not much.....

by the way there is no reason for the u8657.....4 cores 8 threads 1.8 min speed .4.1 multithread ......low thermals....etc.....to be paired with a good screen/ decent graphics.......games dont need the extra heat/price.....watching movies doesnt need it......

but i am talking to the wrong people as you said......

in the age of comunication....a company forum is the wrong place to pitch for ideas......about the company.....so ....who is the head "honcho"....i should be addressing this?

by the way even alienware triple copper cooling systems with huge laptop 17" screen gets to 100celsious during gaming.......... and 60+ during idle sometimes......

As said, the amount of cores has no impact on heat, that's down to needing too much power to get the performance out of the current lithography on intel. AMD don't suffer the same issue, but they don't really do mobile chips.

You need to talk to PCSpecialist themselves, these forums are run by customers and techies who just enjoy helping out.

The forums are mostly for the customer community, and especially for people to advise informally on each other's specifications and/or troubleshoot problems.

PCS do try to review the forums for feedback of course, but it's not an official support or sales channel so it would definitely be best to email them directly to give your feedback and make sure they hear it.

I agree with your point about an i7 not necessarily offering much over an i5 for gaming, certainly with more mid-range GPUs. But, PCS work with chassis provided by Clevo and similar laptop makers. As far as I understand it, PCS don't add the CPUs to the motherboards themselves for laptops (other than for certain specific chassis like the Octane). For most laptops, the CPUs and GPUs actually come ready soldered onto the motherboards. Therefore the higher end chassis that only offer an i7 are made that way by people like Clevo.

Furthermore, nearly all companies that do gaming laptops, whether a barebones supplier like clevo or someone like Dell, Asus, etc, all include i7s for higher end gaming specs. I don't really understand why.. they just do..

Generally the feedback on the screens I'd seen on the forums was that they were quite adequate..?

Quite a few users posting on this forum agree with you that a 1440p screen would be a welcome addition. PCS have apparently confirmed they are coming, though not until later in the Spring it seems. I'm not in the market for a laptop personally, but for what it's worth I agree with you that 1440p would be a good offering :)

@cyllan, you're not making any friends here with your posting style.

To use one of your comments; 'in the age of communication...', try picking the telephone up and actually calling PCS. Remember the telephone? That will get you chapter and verse from the horse's mouth.

And if you're '...not in the market for a laptop personally...' then what are you here for? If you think you have some suggestions for PCS's product line then talk directly to PCS, either by letter (remember those?) or even by email.

Complaining that these fora are '...apparently not [worth] much...' is to completely miss the point. If you'd read the forum rules (see my sig) first you'd have seen that 'PC Specialist Ltd cannot be held responsible for the content contained within the site and the opinions expressed within are not necessarily those of PC Specialist Ltd'.

TBH what you're asking for is pushing the limits of thermodynamics. You mention that '...even alienware triple copper cooling systems with huge laptop 17" screen gets to 100celsious during gaming...' and that's because laptops are notoriously difficult to cool because you just don't have the volume inside the chassis to get the heat away fast enough. Copper heat pipes work up to a point but you can't expect to put desktop processors in a laptop, run them flat out, AND keep it all cool.

Please also pay particular attention to these aspects of the forum rules....

You positively contribute to the forum and its membership
You aid in maintaining a friendly and professional atmosphere
You post within the rules and regulations set out by PC Specialist Ltd
You respect the site, its management and its members
You do not troll or attempt to stir up trouble within the community

Thank you, and welcome to the fora. :)
