Time for an upgrade?

My current PC is about 10 years old plus so I'm debating an upgrade.
This is my current spec with a few upgrades over the years

Case
COOLERMASTER HAF 922 MID TOWER GAMING CASE
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™ i5 Quad Core Processor i5-3570K (3.4GHz) - Special Offer!
Motherboard
ASUS® P8Z77-V - Special Offer!
Memory (RAM)
8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz, X.M.P (2 x 4GB KIT)
Graphics Card
**SPECIAL** 2GB NVIDIA GTX 670 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready - upgraded to 1070
1st Storage Drive

120GB INTEL® 520 SERIES SSD, SATA 6 Gb/s (up to 550MB/sR | 520MB/sW)
1st Storage Drive
1TB WD CAVIAR BLACK WD1002FAEX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE (7200rpm)
DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
12x BLU-RAY ROM DRIVE, 16x DVD ±R/±RW
Memory Card Reader
INTERNAL 52 IN 1 CARD READER (XD, MS, CF, SD, etc) + 1 x USB 2.0 PORT
Power Supply
CORSAIR 750W ENTHUSIAST SERIES™ TX750 V2-80 PLUS® BRONZE
Processor Cooling
Super Quiet 22dBA Triple Copper Heatpipe Intel CPU Cooler
Extra Case Fans
2x 120mm Black Case Fan

This is the spec I'm considering. I'd mainly use it for gaming/office work and very rarely light photo/video editing. Currently happy with my 1440p monitor but will likely upgrade in a few years.

A few questions

Is it worth me putting my 1070 in this for a while and then eventually upgrading it or am I better just getting a 3070ti now?
Do I need the ARGB case fans if the case already had ARGB?
And also what does it look like/what should be changed I'm also not in a massive rush to upgrade so if there is new generation stuff coming soon should I wait?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
Great to see that you’ve got 10 years of value from your current PCS system! It really goes to show that if you spend the time to spec it right you will see those benefits for years to come.

If your current system is still performing well I would definitely recommend holding out a few more months for the new CPU and GPU releases later this year. We should see big performance gains that will mean much better price to performance and value components.

The forum regulars will be on hand to help when it comes time to buy, whether that’s now or later on in the year! 🙂

Thanks for the reply, I think I'll wait it out a few months then and choose a new spec to be looked over.

Hi, I'm back again now that all the new CPU and GPU have been released. This is the build I have come up with although I'd like to bring the total down to £2500 if possible. The Computer will be primarily for gaming and lite video/photo editing. Currently I have a 1440p monitor but may consider upgrading to 4k in the near future.

Cheers appreciate the help in advance.

Thanks really appreciate that and saving some money, Just a couple questions. Is the Seagate m.2 ssd better thats the samsung or just better value? Also I see you've changed the case is this better with cooling?

Thanks very much, I'm sold on the SSD and the case, I actually prefer the look of the 4000x and looking at reviews it seems the much more sensible choice along with the CPU you recommended.

Do you think it would be worth me upgrading to the Asus ROG Strix instead of the TUF with it only being about £30 more?
Could I also just confirm that as I'm getting a CPU cooler it comes with the upgraded thermal paste anyway, which is why you've removed it?
Would it be worth getting extra case fans or does the case have enough?

Cheers appreciate your knowledge and advice, Apologies for all the questions but I want to get the best system I can and to last as long as possible.
