To Sli or not to Sli?

A bit further down the line, I am planning to get the Vortex III or Vortex III elite (NVIDIA sli option) - mainly to be used for gaming. I have heard mixed reviews on Sli - with issues relating to compatibility and performance (mainly microstuttering), but would really appreciate some feedback from the PcSpec community. Thanks!

Thinking the same mate. Dual 7979 or single 680.
7970 seems to be having its fair share of problems which is putting me off that option.

I believe that the 7970 problems are to do with Enduro drivers and as far as I'm aware this doesn't exist in SLI systems, so it should be alright.

What about sli as opposed to single 680m? Are real world gains significant enough to warrant the considerable extra cost? (the 7970 option is not one that I am considering,as I know too many people who have had problems going down that route )
