Hello there labels and jellyspoons,

A few people have had issues with touchpad, mouse buttons or gestures not working on Windows 8, specifically with either the Optimus or Enigma chassis'.

These drivers will fix it on both, if you know your laptop uses these controllers and are also having issues, give them a try, they are universal drivers and not tied down to any chassis:

Optimus IV (Clevo W3x0ET)

ELAN Touchpad drivers: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/DriversForWin8/Touchpad/Touchpad_Elantech_Win7_8_64_VER11566.zip

Enigma IV (Compal QAL51)

Synaptics Touchpad: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb...aptics/Touchpad_Synaptics_Win7_64_Z162105.zip

This did the job for me, so thanks for the tip. But how did my brand new machine get through Quality Control with known broken drivers?

Cheers

For one incredibly annoying reason: it doesn't happen here, and only happens on some machines after they have been dispatched and it goes through Windows setup. We like fun ones like that of course...

Glad it sorted it.

Hi there,

I know this thread is for Win8 issues. But since it's stickied I didn't want to open a new thread. Yesterday I received my Enigma IV running Win 7.

The TouchPad doesn't have multitouch and when I look at the mouse options and go to the ELAN tab I can't see a device listed and all the buttons and check boxes are greyed out. I'm guessing I need a driver update?

I would appreciate any help. I have already sent an email to tech support about this and another lesser issue but I am travelling soon and don't want to risk having to send my laptop in and not getting it back in time.

Cheers

Should be Synaptics not Elan, I have emailed you the driver over. Just download and install, make sure you remove the ELAN drivers.

Hey Jak,

Thank you for your response! I'm surprised it passed through quality control with the ELAN driver because that's how I received it. I've since discovered it was a Synaptics touchpad and installed Synaptics drivers from the synaptics website. They too didn't have any multi-gesture. I uninstalled those drivers and then attempted to install the new ones you sent. It says "Synaptics device not found".

I decided to put in an RMA request and have it looked at as I had another issue to be resolved (Buttons under touchpad are loose and rattling).

It's a great little machine and I was so excited to receive it. It runs great for what I need it for. Sadly the various mouse issues while not really important for me are still annoying problems to have!

Thanks again for your help!

Fingers crossed the PC Specialists themselves get it sorted!

Cheers

Hi there,

I recently bought an Optimus V 15.6" running Windows 8 64 bit, which I'm very happy with. However I can't seem to get touchpad scrolling/gesture support to work. I have tried both the drivers from the links above, but in both cases they say that the hardware was not found. Looking under Mouse Settings in the Control Panel, I have two devices: "HID-compliant mouse on Logitech Virtual Hid Device" (which I think corresponds to a Logitech mouse I plugged in earlier) and "PS/2 compliant mouse plugged into PS/2 mouse port". I don't currently have any mice plugged in. Neither of these options let me update their drivers. Finally, I do occasionally use a Microsoft laptop mouse, which auto-installed Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard Center when I plugged it in, so I'm not sure if this caused any issues.

Is there any way I can enable scrolling/gesture support for this touchpad?

Thanks

If the recommended drivers don't work then call PC Specialist tech support. I sent mine back in. Got it back in 5 days (though I couldn't guarantee you that).

Turns out it was a hardware/ assembly issue and in my case they replaced the motherboard. They had to reinstall windows so as always probably back everything up if you are sending it.

All the best!

Hi everyone,

I am just wondering is it OK to use the stock drivers from the synaptics website for the 17.3" Vortex 4?

The ones i downloaded from the clevo site for windows 8.1 keep crashing (well the synaptics enhancements keep crashing, the touchpad still basiclaly works though) when i wake the system up and i am not sure why. I see the fault in the event log but a search on google returns little.

Thanks.

Hi. I have a Genesis IV (6 months old) with the same problems (gestures not working, cursor freezes or randomly double clicks). I am operating on Windows 7. Please can you tell me the fix? Thanks

I have just reinstalled the touchpad driver from the disc that came with the laptop, in case this solves the problem on a permanent basis.

Hi,
I've just bought a 17" Vortex 4 and am trying to get gesturing working on the touchpad - any advice please?

Thanks,

Sorry to reactivate an old thread.

Just got an Optimus V 15.6", and I'm having issues.

The application gestures that are just horrible i think they are referred to as edge swiping. They are activating any time I move left to right at all and just not usable. So I tried to turn them off, but some bright spark has removed these functions from the mouse control panel.

Touchpad is a synaptics pad, and is running at version 18.0.5

The wierd thing is, the latest version available off the synaptics website is 17.0.9. The version 16 in the original post will not recognise the device.

Uninstalling the version 18 removes the problem, but disabled 90% of the mouse features.

The disc supplied has the same version on.

Installing version 17.0.19 it fails to install.

Anyone got an earlier version that might work, or got some bright idea to enable the features in the control panel, so I can turn them off!

Are you on windows 8, if so, reinstall the latest mouse driver, then go to charms, change pc settings, pc and devices, corners and edges, disable edge swiping.

Spot on, thanks for your help.

Typical microsoft putting settings for a touchpad somewhere other than the area for touchpad settings, and synaptics for removing settings from it's own drivers.

The edge swiping is annoying on a touch pad, is a great feature but far too easy to do it by accident on a laptop.

Hi guys, can anybody help me turn my Omega II touch pad from a screen hopping nightmare into a normal functional basic touchpad ?

Only had the machine for a couple of hours and the touchpad is getting the better of me so far.

I am playing an old game on the machine , one that I have been playing for years on my old laptop.
It's a football manager game and if I move the touchpad in game it frequently navigates between game screens while I am only trying to move the cursor around the screen.

Sometimes I even get taken out of the game altogether back to the desktop.

It's extremely annoying.
I feel as though if I touch the mouse , I will be taken out of the game at any given moment without warning.

Any help would be appreciated.

It is a Synaptics Touchpad V7.2

Same process as above. It's the windows settings that are doing that.

Thank you, I have fixed it now.
Went into the Hardware settings for the Synaptics touchpad and disabled all the advanced features as they are not required for what I want to use the machine for.

For me the problem was not the edge swipes, but some kind of scrolling feature.

Disabled them all and now I am a happy cave man again.
