Good morning.

I have a non PC Specialist desktop with a Windows 10 Retail Key.

With a retail key I understand it can be transferred to a new PC having first unregistered it from the current PC.

Am I correct in the above as I am likely to order a new PC without an o/s.

Thank you.

With windows 10 you can tie any key to your microsoft account to transfer it to another device:

Thank you.

How would this work if I order a system with no o/s.

Is it supplied with a "demo" version of some sort?

My understanding is that PCS install a barebones version onto the PC for testing purposes which then remains when it is shipped. You will need to do a clean install of Windows when you get the PC

With this available via download once you sign into the Microsoft Account previously linked ?

Nobody has actually answered your question here. The answer is YES. You can install a retail version of Windows on any computer you like, but only on one at a time.

If I order a PCS system without specifying an o/s it will be still be supplied with an o/s albeit unregistered. I will then need to unregister my retail key from the old machine and and register it on the new one assuming the key is linked to my Microsoft Account, which it is.

Sorry for repeating elements of my original query.
