I generally have all my data backed up to onedrive or dropbox so it just has to be resynched

I'm in a similar situation to @Martinr36 in that very little is on the OS drive, and I prefer to install applications from scratch to make everything fresh...but hadn't realised Microsoft had sold out yet again and removed the transfer tool from W10/W11.

I used to use LapLink Pro years/decades ago (looks to be the same company that does the PCMover app) and found it great, but then I was using every couple of months as I moved projects. Really don't like the way this new version requires a new purchase every time you want to transfer to a new PC.

Also my main desktop "The Berserker" has multiple external drives, so they just get moved when required, and they are all labeled up, so i can just reset the drive letters as required

If you're talking about a new desktop then the best way is to move thc data drive from the old PC to the new one!
