TV, plex, audio system advice needed

Just wanted to thank everyone for all the input with this.

The best solution we found in terms of things just working was to connect a laptop to the TV and use a cheap air mouse / media keyboard with touchpad built in to work it.

Firestick still doesn't play some of the MKV rips but the laptop plex player app is needless to say fine.

Moving to the next saga:

We got a sound bar to try to get around the TV's speakers buzzing and have been having terrible fun with that. Emphasis on terrible.

We'd use Optical but our Samsung TV only produces very quiet sound via optical even with the soundbar volume at max, which apparently is a thing. The sound bar doesn't have HDMI, but that's fine because apparently if you're blessed with the Samsung TV low volume via optical issue, it happens via HDMI too. The soundbar doesn't support DTS Neo 2.5, only PCM, so we can't switch the TV output to that.

The sound bar has bluetooth but our H6400 apparently doesn't. The TV has wireless direct but the soundbar doesn't.

So fine, 3.5mm jack to the headphone port it is. But we can't plug it in all the way to the soundbar, or else the jack itself seems to cause something else to buzz inside the soundbar during certain parts of various shows. But if we pull the jack out 5mm, so it's not quite in properly, the sound's perfect...

We'd buy a better sound bar or sound base except for the TV apparently not outputting audio at any viable volume via optical or, probably, HDMI anyway.

How old is the TV? Is it under warranty?

4 years and unfortunately it's out of warranty. Think it's a Samsung UE40H6400 2015 model, purchased early 2016.
