TWO LAPTOPS COMPARRISON (I NEED HELP)

Hi,

I have bought a custom made laptop from PC Specialist a long time ago, however the laptop has issues and I have laptop insurance with another company and they have done their diagnostics and informed me the issue can not be solved. So they offered me a rebuild of the same laptop under the insurance company and will be made from PC Specialist. As I don't know much about laptops, I would like some help comparing the laptop I own with the new build that my insurance company has informed me that they can provide. Or they will provide me the funds to build the new laptop from scratch from PC Specialist.

I have attached a PDF document of both the specifications of the laptop in this thread. Please let me know if I am getting a better offer, or if I am getting ripped off. Also if they provide me with the funds of £1222.00. Will I be able to make a better laptop than the two that I am trying to compare? What is the best deal and how should I take this? I have also attached a clear image of the new laptop specifications as they only sent me a screenshot of the specifications if you cant view it clearly on pdf.

Hi there,

Not sure how long ago you have purchased the "old" laptop but as I can see you had some extra peripherals so the price on that invoice is higher than the offered "new" laptop. It seems to me that you are getting a better, updated version of your previous laptop. In fact, the older the "old" laptop is the better this deal becomes.

You are getting identical screen specs and RAM, better CPU(processor) and GPU(graphic card), slightly better hard disk (more rotations per minute on the new one) and few GB's less SSD memory(no biggie).
Based on the information you have provided they are definitely not ripping you off, this deal is certainly worth it in my opinion.

The new laptop would definitely be better than the old one, BUT the quote they got appears to be outdated. I believe an Elimina with the exact same specifications would cost £1,337.00 now, according to the configurator.

I would try to get them to give me £1,337.00, and then I'd slightly modify the specs. Please get advice from more knowledgeable people here, but I'd look into removing the Windows license from the order and using the one from the broken laptop. You could then use this money to get faster RAM, etc. But overall the laptop looks solid, definitely not a rip off.

Thanks for the replies guys, I appreciate it. I have just checked the post and have seen these messages, appreciate it. I just got funds of £1222.00 from the insurance company. Do you think I should go for the build they provided me or can I get a better build with the money they've given me? I've got £1222.00 to spend, please let me know. Thanks 👍

Hi, I have just got this build in pdf as a suggestion to build for £1222. Would I be able to build a better laptop with £1222? I can push my budget to £1300 if I have to, please let me know, thanks.

If you have better builds, please send me the url link to the builds so I can order it, thanks

Yeah, post the configuration link!

From what I can see, right now that laptop will be something like £100 more expensive than it was before. You can claw some of that money back by ordering the machine without windows and using the licence from your broken laptop on it.
