UserBenchMark slow SSD?

Hi,

Recently got a new PCS desktop and I am very happy with it.

I ran UserBenchmark on it to see how it performed. I noticed that one of the SSD's was running a lot slower than the other.

I have two M.2 NVME in the system too and these are also running fine.

Do you think it is show slower because it is the system drive and doing other stuff while the benchmark is running or is there something else I should be looking at?

It's worth noting that the PC runs incredibly fast so it's not noticably slower but the SUS write speed is 1/4 of the speed of the other drive so if I can identify if it is a problem and resolve it that would be good.

Thanks in advance.

Andrew

Userbenchmark is a pointless benchmark in all respects in my opinion.

Try using CrystalDiskMark instead perhaps as an alternative. I have found that to be a simple and decent benchmark dedicated to disks. It is quite old though, so there may be better ones out there......

Try Samsung's Magician software - see if they is able to check speeds for you. considering you have 4 Samsung drives - probably worth installing it anyway to check health etc of drives.

Can you post FULL spec as well and not just snippet please.

Here you go @Bhuna50 I have also added two more SSD's a Crucial MX500 500GB and a Crucial M500 240GB

I used Crystal Disk Mark too and got these results. Very consistent write speeds

And neither of them are your system drive, instead you've got a slow SSD as the system drive.......................

I did request one of the m.2's be the OS drive when it arrived it was on the SATA SSD, I couldn't be bothered reinstalling windows on the M.2
🤷‍♂️

Is it possible that windows has things running in the background, updates or anything?
I had one instance of Chrome running, not much running process wise, I'll do a restart and try again with internet disconnected to eliminate any background processes.

Checked with Magician, says healthy, a quick test showed all good on the test. Speeds were identical to Crystal Disk Mark when doing benchmarks.

So the read is ok, its the writing - i do wonder if the fact its the OS drive has something to do with it.

Have you checked Task manager and looked to see whats running and using resource.

OK - it might be time to consider opening the machine up, taking the SSD out, and putting it back in again.

Ok I am now even more confused.. So in Samsung Magician I spotted the drive could have Rapid mode enabled. So I thought why not.. I enabled it and restarted. Now look at the numbers

You can see the previous benchmarks below the most recent one in Magician and then when I saw it I thought I would double check with Crystal and got the same. I was watching task manager as it did the tests and the numbers were right.. Is it writing to RAM or some cache before putting it to the SSD and that is why we are seeing the numbers as we are?

🤷‍♂️
