Hi,

Am I right in understanding that the USB-C port will not display a higher resolution than 1920 x 1080 / 2560 x 1440 at 144Hz?
I understand that it will do 3440 x 1440 but at 'only' 110Hz, roughly the same as HDMI 2

If so I wish they had included a DP, as my monitor is 3440 x 1440 and can do 144Hz. Still I'm sure that there are plenty of other folks wishes.

What monitor are you using?

Where are you getting your "understanding" information from? re the 3440 x 1440 at 110?

iiyama G-Master Red Eagle GB3461WQSU-B1 34" UWQHD IPS
2 x HDMI 2, 2 x DP 1.4
The 3440 x 144 at 110 Hz, was from the web as far as I can tell

So when you say its from the web - is that a limitation on the monitor itself - or have you found somewhere quoting the limitation of the Valeon laptop? If so, link please.

That last one you linked implies that DP 1.2 on a 3440 x 1440 does 120Hz not 110, so I guess yes limitations would apply the same and its not a Valeon limitation but more a DP limitation. I very much doubt the naked eye could tell much difference between the 120 and the 144 anyway :D

I would also query the DP version as 1.2 is very old now, I would think that's an error and it's actually DP1.4

Possibly, might be worth me buying a USB tp DP cable to try out the theory.
I will order one and let you know

UPDATE - Ordered a USB-C to DP cable from Amazon after installing the DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Windows
And DisplayLink Manager

and it worked straight away at 144Hz, no adjustments required

The cable that I used was this one
