Volume level not affecting volume

I just received today my new laptop, works fine except for a "little" issue with the volume control.
Basically, when I try to lower the volume (either with the keyboard or the slider) the level of the sound is not affected until it reaches 0 when it mutes. so at 0, it mutes but from 1 to 100 the level stays constant. I tried updating the drivers but everything seems up to date.

below I attached the laptop spec

Since you bought this with Windows installed, all the drivers should have been installed. I would phone PCS and talk this through with them.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem. I bought the same laptop, with a very similar spec and have exactly the same problem. I've yet to find a solution despite having a fiddle. Any updates on this would be really appreciated, I'm sure it'll be something easy to resolve once we know.

Thanks in advance :)

Just an update on this...

I just popped in the CD with all the drivers on it which came with the laptop, despite it seemingly being all setup. I selected "Install Drivers" and then "Install Audio Driver".

The process advised that it would first remove the audio drivers, and then install them. It required two reboots. Having done this, I seem to have gained the master volume control functionality that I'd expected. Previously this seemed to be entirely ignored and the system sounds were just blasting out at 100%, unless I muted the sounds in which case, well, I got nothing.

Not sure if this will help you also @ange, hopefully so... please do let me know if you hear anything from PCS though...
