Vortex-II 15" Gaming Laptop

Finally pulled the trigger on the PCSPECIALIST Vortex II 15" gaming laptop last night. I've been monitoring other companies who stock similar Clevo chassis but went with PC Specialist due to their much faster turn around and superior prices. :D

From a company philosophy point of view, forums are a great idea. This is another reason that made me comfortable with my purchase with PCS. Its great to see so many company members active on the discussion board giving advice and support where needed. Not only that its well balanced advice, and not just trying to sell customers stuff they don't need.

Any, here's my spec (currently in testing stage, fast track FTW!):

There are tons of pics and vids available on Youtube and notebook review forums concerning the Clevo P150HM chassis (which the VortexII is built from) but i have yet to see any PCS owners posting their pics and vids. Expect some from myself when it arrives (hopefully early next week :D!), with a fair and honest appraisal to boot. :smartass:

Nice one MPM. Be good to see more laptop pics etc, as most of the pics posted are desktops.

Hope it turns out to be as good as it looks!

Congrats mate.

Have a look in "show off" and check my thread. Lots of pictures of my vortex2 I got last week.

Still grinning like a Cheshire cat :d

Rep added for order and sensible choice.

Oh, you did get the Silver Warranty yes? Also, you forgot to mention the excellent support services, should they ever be needed!

Well it arrived, :D!

3 day Fast track FTW!

Thoroughly chuffed with everything. Will be sure to post pics/vids once im settled.

My only suprsise with the system was the hard disk space useage. Its a PCS clean install, no bloatware, of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I was suprised to see this takes up 45GB of hard disk space. I was expecting more around the 20 to 25GB mark. Can't seem to determine whats using up all the space, maybe a factory system restore? Ideas appreciated.

That does sound a lot. I've the same OS installed, no office however, with Steam, 3 games and CS5. Thats taking 25gig ish

urgh, new laptop owners worst niggle... black dead pixel right bang in the middle of the screen :(!

Wouldn't give a damn if it was on the side of the screen, but its all i can see right there in the middle of things! Guess ill be on the phone to support tomorrow.

Figured where the 20GB or so of storage was used up... its because i have 16GB of memory installed on my system. Windows by default with match that for hibernation and pagefile/virtual memory purposes. Very quickly recovered by disabling hibernation and decreasing the size of the page file.
