Vortex II 17.3/ CLEVO P170HM START UP FAILURE

Hi all,

just had delivery on thursday 15th sept. of a high spec Vortex II laptop.
However only after about 20hours of use it is failing to start.
Shutted down from windows 7 and tried starting it up again after a few seconds. but wouldn't.

All thats present is the power light and bluetooth light for about 30 seconds, laptop then turns itself off.
(no screen / bios info)

It did turn on after awhile by removing battery but again once shut down same problem.

Any ideas?
its unfortunate as it is alot of money.

Will contact them on Monday, see what they can do. Have taken out extra warranty.

Hello

I have just experienced the same problem as yourself.

I restarted my machine after using for about an hour, i havent installed anything and the the system was working fine no problems,
restarted and indeed as you described i am seeing the bluetooth icon and and power light for about 30 secs and then shuts down, also
i may mention the screan is also blank.

Something like this isnt usual for a £1350 laptop, have you found a fix or is it simply a case of sending the Poor thing back to PcSpecialist?

Maybe your specs would help someone to help you out. Not so tech savvy myself. Outcome would be interesting.

Currently not pleased with their support, considering the expense & lack of response.

UPDATE:

Laptop has now been delivered, on the 28th september 2011.
All is operational now.
Thanks to James Davies @ PCS for his support on this RMA.

Problem was with the EC & BIOS, which had a compatibility issue with one/some of the hardware installed.
PCS updated it with a newer revision.

ref: Sakumatu;
contact PCS who will/should sort this out for you.

Have almost the same laptop as you do and had the same problem. I called pcspecialist and refered to your post that EC & BIOS might be outdated, but they assured that i had the newest one.
So i tryed popping out one slot of ram and then turning it on. It surprisingly powered on without any problems. I popped the ram back in and it would still turn on. Still don't know why it wouldn't start in the first place and am hoping that it won't happen again.

Customer service +1

I have not had the problem show for some time now, indeed i tried popping the ram and ran with only 1 stick, it has started up fine and has no troubles stating up after this. I contacted the pcspecialist Tec team and they put a note on my account and gave me the go ahead. Perfect!

If the problem persists i may have to send it back, though im not sure i can live too long without it as i use it for work.

Again kudos to Pcspecialist for allowing me to tinker, try getting the OK to do this with any other suppliers...
