Ordered my first decent computer last Tuesday for my birthday, got the Vortex III 17.3". This is to replace my broken, knackered HP G61 laptop, so a bit of a step up!

Nice build there I'm ordering mine tomorrow kinda the same build - the blue-ray and 16GB off ram. Just a question though. Why did you buy that much ram for?

Well i'm sure in 4 years something alot better will come for even 1/4 off the price tbf. I think 8gb more then enough can't really see the difference but for the extra £20 it was up to you :).

It just with the new SSD drives they what makes a lot off the difference i don't see any change with 8gb ram to 16gb unless your using big programs like modeling and movie making software. Which I'm assuming you will be?

I think it's a good choice for the OP. There are already quite a few use-cases for >8GB and in a couple of years there will be more. And it's the price of 6 pints of beer.
