PC specialist :-
Ordered vortex III 17inch, matte screen, win7 64, i7 3610qm , 7979, 8gig ram, killer wi-fi, blueray

Changed my spec a few times but still only took 9 days production time.
Pc specialist emailed several times on the status of the laptop, when it was ready to be shipped. never known that level of service before.
Then emails and texts a few times me to say that it had been shipped, gave the tracking number and when it was going to arrive to within a a time 9am-10am, arrived 9.25am, very impressive.

The Laptop when I opened it looked really nice, It's not branded with logos so looks like a cool slab of slate. It feels nice, solid and robust.
All the drivers for it are on a disc they send with it. there is also some booklets in with it to help you set it up.

The keyboard feels nice the keys travels down quite a way also feels like a quality keyboard. The programmable backlit sections are cool, made me laugh when I put a music cd in and put the keys to dance mode.

The matte screen is very nice, no reflections indoors but found the sun too bright to be able to use it outside, I could just manage to watch the tennis on it, but it was full sun at 1pm

The fans are very quiet, I can hear them when playing games but its a quiet low fan noise, only noticeable with the sound off. I have owned a 17 acer and an acer 18inch with dedicated graphics cards, both were louder.
That was my biggest worry that they were going to be very loud.

Speakers are good the thx software makes them sound way better. They are crystal clear and loud for a laptop. The sub is not that powerful but I never expected to be.
My wife was on the phone and was trying to turn the tv down thinking the explosions and effects were coming from it :)

Boot up is quick, everything you do on it seems super fast.

The only negative thing I could say about it was I wiped the hd to install the os on an ssd I had and that I could not find the wi-fi driver on the cd
I eventually found it on the killer website.

All in all it is a very good machine 10/10 and I am proud to own one.

P.S I will edit this to add benchmark scores when I get around to it.

The matte screen is nice but not stunning

I too have the Vortex 3 17" with the matte screen and I find it amazing, probably the best laptop display I have ever had/seen.

Does your screen have a 'grainy' appearance, or is it smooth?

slightly grainy looking

The screen is very good but I thought I would be able to use it outside that's all. Cant seem to make it overly bright to compensate.

But my acer 18.4 inch blue-stone one looked really good but that was glossy and did have some reflection

That's quite surprising as you have probably got a ChiMei N173HGE screen, which has a grainy appearance and isn't one of the best panels. I originally had a ChiMei screen in my Vortex 3 and told PCS to swap it out for an AUO one and I love it!

The reason I am surprised is that PCS openly said all Vortex 3 laptops come equipped with an AUO B173HW01 V.5 panel.
