Vortex IV Installation issues

Hello,

My Vortex arrived last week, I didn't purchase an OS as I have my own copy of Windows 7 pro I'm using with it. I have encountered many problems while setting up the laptop which I have managed to resolved the Majority of, such as the drivers provided not being able to find the hardware ect, however I've come across a couple of issues I'm having some trouble with.

I have noticed that after installing all of the drivers, windows updates appears to stop working. When you try and check for updates it tells me that the service is not running and to restart my machine, even though the service is clearly running and restarts have been attempted. Windows updates was working perfectly fine before I begin installing the drivers. I have installed the majority so am unsure which ones are stopping updates from working. Has anyone else come across this issue before?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I've not come across that before, however I'd try uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them one at a time to find out which one is causing the issue (chances are it'll only be one of them) that way you can see if there is an update to that specific driver.

I agree with steaky360, but are you sure the drivers you're installing are legit? Stopping Windows Update from running is a feature seen in some malware. I'd double-check the sources of your drivers, personally I'd only trust the device manufacturers website. You might also want to run Malwarebyte's Antimalware scanner over it too.

Thanks for the responses guys, I have yet to try reinstalling the drivers to see which effects it.

I am only using the drivers that have been provided on the disks from PC Specialist. This is the second install of Windows I've had to do as the issue happened the first time around as well

So I didn't need to go through reinstalling the drivers, I just deleted the SoftwareDistribution folder from the windows folder and restarted and this allowed Windows updates to start working again. Also after windows has updated everything it needs to the computer is much more stable now :)
