Vortex IV keyboard backlight control

Anyone know if there is a way of controlling the keyboard backlight on a VortexIV in Xubuntu (or any other ubuntu or linux Variant)? Just turning off and on would be enough, don't need the full ability to change colors.

Currently have Xubuntu 14.04 installed and the light is on, but function keys do not dim or turn it off.

Unfortunately this is fairly standard with most Linux distros. I am running Ubuntu on an Octane and have not managed to find a fix yet, although only had it a couple of weeks and not looking too hard, am quite happy with a relaxing blue background, although understand if want rid of it. If i manage to find anything, will post it on forum.

Thanks. Also not to worried, backlight on is OK normally, just would be nice to turn it off when on battery maybe to reduce load.

I've had a bit of a search and there’s some drivers and utilities out there for clevo P1X0XM chassis, although looks like slightly older version than mine.

Will give them a go when i have some time, may work, or might be able to modify them.

At least as a temporary expediant you can do as described here:

Although I think you may only have
/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight
on recent kernels.

On my machine /sys/class/backlight/maxbrightness is 5273, so you can echo n > brightness with n up to 5273 in that directory.

I think that you will need to be root or use sudo to use that echo.

Oops! Sorry. Missed the vital "Keyboard"
But maybe there is a similar entry under /sys/class/ somewhere? It seems probable.
