Hi, i've already reported my issue with a ticket in assistance pc specialist section but i believe can be usefull share here too.

Basically my laptop keyboard RGB backlight stopped work or better started malfunctioning suddenly.

My laptop is a Vyper 15,4 bought in end of 2018.

Initially i suffered of dead backlight with dead keyboard, and after some reboot light were back.

Now i noticed if my backlight and keyboard is not working in device management i have an error with "composite USB device" that became "unknow USB device" (device descriptor request failed) and opening events i have a "device not migrated"

Migration of device USB\VID_0000&PID_0002\5&152dc530&0&6 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.

ID last device istance: USB\VID_2717&PID_FF48\d06ae0670504

Class GUID: {36fc9e60-c465-11cf-8056-444553540000}

Address:

Migration classification: 0xF000FFFFFFFFF130

Present: false

State: 0xC0000719

What i tried:
- i'm back with previous nvidia drivers, only thing i modified in last 72h, of course with no result;

So i noticed this "composite USB device" is used only for manage backlight with control center app. Infact disabling it no section about backlight colour will appear there!

I disabled it. Right now i cannot modify colours and if backlights go off, whatever the cause is, i can continue to use my keyboard. Eventually backlight come on again after a bit or anyways if i reboot my system. No particular issue this with "fix".

While IF i leave this device active, generally, if my backlights go off my keyboard follow them for about 10/15 sec or worse keyboard start to be slow or with double letters, start write casual text, backlight change colour alone…

Right now i think i can exclude a software issue, anyways i also restored an old image of windows i have, same issue… i havent tried a fresh reinstallation yet cause lack of time now… but i believe entire issue is well limited with possible cause.

Reading in some forum and reddit look this issue is not uncommon with many TongFang barebone like Vyper is based, not this specific model but look primary suspect is flat cable from keyboard to motherboard or another cable used for power on RGB.

Lastly i opened half back panel looking for something of wrong, i cleaned one that looked like a keyboard flat cable (so large) but nothing of wrong.

Any idea or suggestions?

[edit1] i spoke with phone assistance, a very competent guy, he suggested me to try to remove completely gaming center app.
Removing every single file or registry entry about it i noticed a very large quantity of gamingcenter.exe dmp look cause was app :rolleyes:

Actually i removed and not reinstalled it and i'm about 6 hours without a single problem. I'll test 48h before try reinstall it.

[edit2] blacklight is now back with on/off but keyboard is still working...
[edit3] after 45 minutes with a videogame i suffered many time keyboard and blacklight off :(
i think i'll have to start a RMA
[edit4] i'm starting to think this is problem related with overheating of flat cable not more well fitted and / or dirty flat cable contacts
[edit5] drumming with hands in left side and touchpad cause blacklight off. Right now i'm pretty sure is related about cable. I'm opening a RMA.
[edit6] some reddit's users suggest me that cause could be also a keybord short circuit with RGB lights. Right now i'm using laptop with RGB light disabled by bios and gaming center without issue....
[edit7] disabling RBG with BIOS and using control center do not solve any issue... also because keyboard lights come on alone... and anyways with all issue reported

EPILOGUE: issue come from damaged keyboard flat cable. PC Specialist replaced it without charging me nothing.
