VYPER laptop - sound only coming from subwoofer

Hi there,

I just got my 15'6" Vyper laptop today with standard configuration. Everything works great, but the sound quality is awful! Worse than my phone. Kind of sounds as if the sound is playing out of the ear piece iin your phone.

The sound clearly isn't coming out of the speakers placed just above the keyboard -- it is all coming out of one small speaker at the back of the laptop, which I assume to be a subwoofer? The laptop is advertised as having 2 stereo speakers, and it has a lovely sticker saying it is 'powered by sound blaster cinema 5' lol so I assumed the sound would be acceptable.

I also wouldn't expect the speakers placed above the keyboard to just be a spoof?

I tried restarting the laptop, and re-installing the Realtek Audio Drivers but nothing helped so far. Is somebody able to help me out with this? I would appreciate any advice!

Thanks,
Jakub.

It sounds like the speaker cable may have come loose in transit. I’d contact PCS and ask for their guidance in checking the cable is properly attached. It’s a brand new TongFang chassis, and I’m not sure any of us would be able to adequately advise on checking the innards like a clevo laptop.

Hey Lotny, I have no answer for your problem, but if you could do me a favor.. Please look on your laptop's back and tell me what model it is. We know it's not Clevo, most probably Tong Fang..

Thank you!!!

yes, it is a tong fang.

i have been in touch with support over the phone; they reinstalled all my drivers and nothing worked. suggested i reinstall windows, which i did today (not over the phone as it is a sunday.) sadly nothing worked! the speakers are just totally dead... i guess i will have to send the laptop over to them, so they may fix that.

I am having the same problem with my Vyper laptop. Were you able to sort out the problem in the end?

I spoke to PC Specialist about this and the 'speakers' above the keyboard are not speakers, they are vents. I have the same awful sound quality from my laptop.

I would be absolutely amazed if that was the case. Almost every laptop has speakers in those locations. Are you sure the specialist didn't misinterpret?

I had a similar issue with my Octane III a few weeks back. Fortunately a re-install of the drivers and a reboot sorted it. Was a very strange issue that I couldn't see a solution to (Save the driver fix).

So an update on my laptop. I sent a message to PCSpecialist about the speaker problem and I got a reply recommending that I request an RMA and send the laptop back for repairs.

I have since sent my laptop back. But they did tell me the same thing that dearon said. The grills above the keyboard are vents and the speakers are situated under the laptop so the sound does come out the bottom.

However, they did tell me that my speakers were muffled from being faulty so they did replace them. Having got the laptop back, the sound is louder but still come out from under the laptop.

So if your laptop does have quiet sound, even at max volume, I would say send a message to PCSpecialist or request an RMA because it could be a problem with the speakers itself.

Strange design for directional sound but I guess some things need compromised. Glad you got it sorted and it allows for a potential path for other users :)

Question for lotny, how's the sound now on your vyper laptop is it any better than before or the same, I'm asking because I'm considering to purchase a vyper laptop myself
