Weird mouse issue

Today my kids mouse has started acting very strangely. It can't left or right click on anything on the desktop until you press the forward button on the side of the mouse which then let's you select the desktop icons but not the taskbar, start or search.

Once you open an app such as Spotify for example you again need to click the forward button to use the left click.

In Edge this doesn't work, the only way to do anything in Edge is using keyboard shortcuts and tabbing around.

I've gone through all the mouse options I can find, reinstalled drivers, updated windows, changed USB ports etc and am at a total loss on how to fix this

Hiya. Depending on what mouse it is it may have button profiles which you can change.

What make and model mouse is it?

Hi, it's a Gamemax Pulse. Not much in the way of instructions came with it but no mention of being able to configure buttons

Best thing to do is try it on another laptop or PC, see if the same behaviour occurs.

If it does, it's something to do with the physical mouse, not windows.
