Try BiggRed for a excellent service on calliper refurbishment, have used them for many years for 4-6 pot Brembo and AP Racing brakes.

Their vehicle lookup only has the basic calliper options listed to give you an idea of prices, but give them a call and they‘ll give you a better idea.

My 4-pot Brembos (from a 911) were about £280 per axle last time I had them done.

Calipers are a DIY job IMO :p

New seals and a nice polish on any pins tends to do the job nicely :D
General servicing I agree.

But when you've bought some second hand ones and need a hydraulic press to get the old pistons out and have to replace leaking bleed nipples, then a bit of expert help is useful.

I'm an engine-ear so that's all childsplay :D

I've never needed a press though, I've got a fine selection of persuaders in my arsenal. First you get them to move inward, then you can reconnect them to the line and pump the brake to get them out the way. Hasn't failed me yet and that's been mostly on 1990s Japanese variants that tend to seize up at the first sine of a British coast.

I have replaced a number of pistons mind you but when that's the case you don't need to use the gentle approach on removal 😇

I just drive the damn things.

I let my engineer-monkey mate do the difficult stuff as he's from an ex-Aston & ex-Cosworth drivetrain & chassis development/calibration background.

He's a one-man band but specialises in Nissan GTRs and the older BMW M cars (mine were 2 x e34 M5s and my current Z4MC). He's got 3 x e34 M5s himself, and a modified R33 GT-R (450bhp for road trips, up to 650bhp for the Nurburgring) which he strips & rebuilds more often than I clean out my PC.

He's currently fabricating some brackets to fit these racing Alcon calipers to my Z4MC for when the supercharger goes on.

Alcon calipers are fantastic. I settled on AP racing which are very similar (Availability).

Anyone interested in any sort of fabrication should check out Project Binky on youtube.

I've had my car to 4 different garages, just to have my front brakes checked out and they all have stated that i'm in need of new set of front calipers, Once i get the new calipers, the old ones will come off with the help of my brother who is more mechanically sound than what i am, who works with and on cars all day and in his spare time still works on cars,

We'll tackle the old caliper referb are self's, if we can get them back to working condition, we'll then sell them on ebay to try and get some money back to somewhat reduce the cost of me paying for a brand new set of calipers from Citroen,

It might have been attainable, but I bet it it wouldn't have been insurable😂
That i can agree, My first years insurance with the DS3 Racing and the cheapest i could get was just shy of £1900 fully comp, i got one price way cheaper than this at £1000, but that would of needed a black box fitted, For me, you don't buy cars like this to have a black box fitted,
As of right now, my insurance is around £600 give or take each year.

Just got my new calipers today, but i'm not happy with Citroen:mad:😤,

New Citroen Racing calipers DS3.jpg

When i went to pick up my new calipers from the Citroen garage, they told me, that they want my old calipers, after i have fitted the new ones, and i'm like why do they want my old calipers as their mine to do with as i please,
I told the Citroen garage that my self and my brother will referb the old calipers are self's, and they turned around and said NO! i can't do that and that i have give them back to Citroen, so i asked if i'm getting a discount on the new calipers if i give them my old ones and they said NO!.

I think i deserve to keep my old calipers, having spent £1400 on just two new calipers,
I could have gotten a full road/track braking system, Brake disc's / Brake calipers / Brake pads / Brake line / Brake cylinders / Brake fluid for just over £1600 which will perform better.

The reason i went with the Citroen Racing calipers is to maintain the value of the car due to it being rare, only 200 DS3 Racing's were sold in the UK and there's less than 100 registered on the road, I'm keeping the car looking stock as how it came off the factory line as well as all the cars history, as it has always been serviced by Citroen , for which i hear can also help's maintain the cars value,

It's daylight robbery that Citroen want my old calipers and not discount my new ones, as i can get at least half my money back by refurbishing the old calipers and selling them, but NO!, Citroen don't want me to do that🤬🤬🤬.

Did you take the car to a Citroen dealer to do the work, or were the new callipers just purchased from them?

If you now have both sets, how can Citroen force you to give them the old ones? Is there some sort of exchange/core surcharge that they’ve neglected to mention?

I only purchased them from Citroen, I'll be taking the old ones off and fitting the new ones this Saturday with my brother,

No exchange or surcharge, all they stated, that it was a cost of £700 for each caliper, no mention of having to bring my old calipers back to them, but as soon as i picked up my calipers from the Citroen garage, they told me i have to give my old caliper to them,

There nothing even on the receipt / invoice of my new calipers that states that i need to send my old caliper back to Citroen, why they want them back???,

My only guess, is so Citroen can referb them, then sell them to someone else at £700 each as new,

It's my car, i can/should be able to do with what ever i want with what ever parts are on it.

I would politely tell them where to go, they have absolutely no right to ask you for them back, their yours, you bought the car, you own the parts, they have no claim to them.

Is it an actual citroen garage or a dealership?

It's a Citroen dealership, which ordered the calipers direct from Citroen,

My brother going to go over and see them on Saturday after we fitted the new calipers on, as he not happy either, after i told him, he going to go over to give a few polite words with them.

Must admit, I'd be inclined to agree. No way on earth I would be handing them back, you would be as well setting fire to at least £500 IMO.

If there's no declaration from them anywhere then there is no standing. Whether they were meant to propose that to begin with or not is neither here nor there, they didn't..... so it's done now.

Fine for your Bro to go over and have a chat but I would recommend doing so sans calipers :D
