Which 2.0 speakers?

No. I don't have a sound card, but I may invest in one at a later date.

Yes the store is quite large.. I don't want to spend more than £50 on any speakers any way.

Question.... If I buy a sound card from somewhere else other than PCS, would I void the warranty?

As long as you don't damage your pc when you install the soundcard you wouldn't void your warranty. If you are spending less than £50 I wouldn't bother with a soundcard, try onboard audio first and if you are not happy then add one later on.

This might seem like a daft question. But this is my first computer of my own. Why would I need a sound card?

The motherboard will provide audio, you don't need ac soundcard unless you have a pretty expensive set of speakers or need some features not available with onboard audio.

Thanks for your input.

I might buy the 'Creative' speakers if I don't know what else to buy. I have actually seen some bad reviews for the other set of speakers, so I'll have to rethink. We got given some Active 85 speakers and they do the job nicely, shame I can't have those!
