which components increase browser speed?

I'm looking for a new desktop to replace my 2003 dell inspiron running windows xp, on pentium 4. I like the idea of building a desktop and like pc specialist.
I use my desktop mainly for internet browsing, with some basic word processing and digital pic storage. I particularly want to have fast browsing as web surfing use will be high. I also want my new desk top to start up fast and change quickly between applications, is this about the type of CPU?
Are there any components that I can look to to make fast browsing speeds or is this all dependant on my broadband speed?
Any help appreciated, I'm a bit of novice when it comes to computers.

CPU helps as well as RAM

CPU is the 'calculations' the PC makes so the faster it is the faster its calculations are.

RAM is its memory, can cache things etc and makes thing run smoother

Your broadband speed will determing how quickly you connect to sites and load data however the CPU and RAM will help you when it comes to human input so like opening tabs, closing tabs, opening other programs, running several programs at once etc etc.
