Which Spec Would You Choose!?

I'm curious as to what the mods and spec helpers on these forums would choose, money no object, as their perfect PCS rig, including intended use, components, monitor(s) and peripherals.

All comments welcome.

Money is always an issue :) and purpose. I am assuming this is nothing to do with sales advice

I moved this to general because as Keynes pointed out, it probably isn't best suited to sales advice.

I think you would find most of us wouldn't go all out with quad titans. I have see a couple of people doing in ultimate builds, even when they weren't the fastest cards. Hell I wouldn't even go about a 4770. Even if I had a million quid I doubt my dream PC with peripherals would go over 1.3/1.5k absolute max. As I know all too well that spending more gets you significantly less performance/£ over that kind of area. That and I know I wont be needing more performance.

I'm toying with the idea of a new rig right now. But because I'm gonna slot in my GPU, probably my HDD too, it looks like it will come out under £800. I would have pretty much my dream PC then, by that I mean something I can send a little on every so often to keep it updated with whatever I need.

Money no object? Possibly one of these then......

It's a Cray XK7 - Titan. Not sure if it runs Windows though..........

Thanks for moving the thread, wasn't sure where it should go :)

Yeah, was just interested in what you guys thought as you all help out people everyday on the best cost/performance suited rig for budget and intended use, so was wondering what you would do given zero cost restraints.

However, as Keynes quite rightly said,
Money is always an issue :) and purpose..
. Does this mean then that you're happy with your rig? Maybe I could change the question for you Keynes, what would you change about your rig, given the chance?

Love this spec, fully kitted out! However, why the choice of 2133MHz RAM? Is it not usually recommended to go for the lower MHz? Also, why the Caviar Green HD and not just throw in another Black? Is that to lower power consumption? Just curious :)

i'd probably go for something similar to Boozads, however, with a few minor changes.

- EVGA 1500w PSU rather than a corsair one.
- Two EVGA superclocked 780ti's.
- Custom watercooling loop.
- Plus i'd keep my current case :)

I was thinking of buying a new rig but due to work commitments I haven't had time to do any gaming for months and that's unlikely to change for the rest of the year. If I had more spare time, new rig with all the unnecessary things I tell others not to get.

1600MHz is fine for stock clocked CPUs, but with a k version of the 4770 and a h100i I'd be having my first shot at overclocking. That's when the higher frequency RAM would be beneficial.

Also, why the Caviar Green HD and not just throw in another Black? Is that to lower power consumption? Just curious :)

I have two Blacks and a Green in my current rig, the Blacks are used for Steam, Origin, games, programs and Virtual Machines while my Green is used for storage of files. The Greens generally tend to run cooler (up to 10°C) than the Blacks (whether that's down to lower power consumption or not I don't know) so their longevity would possibly be greater. I don't care if I have to re populate my Steam library due to a failing drive, and while I have my files backed up three times I can't be bothered moving them all again!
