Why can’t I overclock my ram?

I can’t seem to get my RAM to budge from 1066MHz.. G-Skill Trident Z 3200mhz. In my bios (MSI b450 gaming plus) I set the ram speed to 3200mhz and the XMP to “profile 2” which is 3200mhz, and nothing changes. It won’t boot until it switches back. I don’t see how it would be unstable. Even under profile 1 I don’t see change. I have a Ryzen 7 2700 which runs at 3200mhz. I was told my VR FPS problems could be due to my R7 not liking the speed of my RAM.. So I Im trying to get this figured out, at least to unlock its true potential. FYI My bios had never been updated.. maybe this is causing an issue. Any help would be great.

Is this on a PC Specialist system? If so can you post the full spec and if not, there's not much we can do to help as these are PC Specialist forums.

I don't personally know much about the practicalities of overclocking, but a 3x jump seems very ambitious.
