this is not innovation at all, they havent created something truly unique, such as the PadFone, or ASUS Transformers, they are very unique ideas

Interesting to see the different reactions in the UK and US courts - and I definitely side with the UK court reaction here.

As much as I hate apple, two things:

1) The iphones aren't that bad, theres a reason they're basically the number 1 smartphone at the moment.
Actually, Iphone is not the number one smartphone platform, and in fact never has been (it was Symbian until 2011, now Android - and Symbian still outsold Iphone until Nokia's switch to WP, and still probably has a larger installed userbase). Although one wouldn't believe it judging by the media obsession. (If you mean comparing sales of individual models, that's not a useful stat for many reasons. It means other manufacturers do worse simply because they have loads of very similar models with different names, whilst Apple just call all of their phones "Iphone" - it's a stat based on semantics. I mean, are PCSpecialists' PCs awful, because the sales of the individual models are low? Of course not - most people would look at the kind of product - Windows PCs are very popular, it's just that there are loads of companies producing them.)

In fact Android is now so popular that it has more than all other platforms put together, and even one company alone (Samsung) is outselling the Iphone platform 2 to 1. The Iphone platform sales has been shrinking massively the last couple of quarters, with a drop in 10 million sales since last quarter alone.

An Iphone isn't bad, but that's not saying much for a premium product ;) A £100 smartphone is not bad these days, whilst a high end Samsung is pretty amazing :)

2) Google(Android) Samsung Microsoft and all the other big suits are just as guilty of this as each other.
I don't know what Samsung have done, though yes I can think of criticisms for Google and MS.

Though the difference is I think, people and the media are happy to criticise MS, yet Apple get hype and praise from many of those same people, and especially the media. Perhaps the tide is turning, but it seems slow.

I saw a photo today of the Samsung phone they are saying was deisgned before the iphone, its a slide phone but yeah i see the similarity, but then i remembered the O2 XDA looks exactly the same as that and it was also a slide phone.

If if Samsing say that they didn't copy the iphone did they copy the XDA in whichcase why arent HTC suing Samsung, then Apple for copying samsung.

AGHHHHH This is so confusing.... Im confused why i even care too....

Apple and Samsung can go dig a hole. They know they all blatantly ripped off the greatest phone ever designed!

Hah, I'm always enjoying discussions Linux vs Windows, Android vs Apple, consoles vs PCs, etc...

In the end of the day... who cares. I used to have Nokia, then loads of other phones of which names I cannot remember, then was very happy with Android phone, now I have iPhone... next year will go Android or iPhone or whatever else it may be. It's not like you are buying the only phone in your life and you will have to stick to it no mater what... and in 60years you will regret your choice :p

It's just a gadget, a gadget you buy for 12-24 months then you swap like good old pair of shoes. Simply saying I don't care if one phone is a rip of of another one, or that Apple will sue Samsung ass, or vice versa... if Daewoo will make amazing phone that will be a rip off of Samsung Galaxy S3 ... hey ho I will buy it happily for as long as it does what it suppose to do :)

Apple are just reasonably good at selling products, they've created a brand people want to get behind (the iCrowd)... They could probably sell toilets as long as they stuck the "i" in front of them...
