WiFi problem with Genesis V 15.6"

Hi,

I bought a Genesis V 15.6" laptop for my daughter, and installed Elementary OS Freya on it (it was replacing a MacBook).

The laptop will occasionally lock up, such that only a hard reboot (i.e. hold power button for five seconds) will get it running again. The problem seems to be related to the wifi. It has never locked up when not accessing the internet, and does lock up with all kinds of network traffic; downloading updates, browsing, streaming.

I have had a quick scan through dmesg, and nothing obvious jumps out.

Wifi hardware is Intel Wireless-N 7260 and the driver is iwlwifi.

I've found plenty of messages relating to that hardware and driver, but none mentioning lockups.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I don't think that this is relevant but I have had kernel oops involving NETDEV WATCHDOG using iwlwifi and an N 7260. The same timeout oops can be triggered when using ethernet. But these didn't cause lockups.
