Windows 7 or 8 for audio/ableton/reason live performance and some gaming.....

Ive ordered a laptop from pc specialist, and im in the stage of panic over the things i have ordered. The main reason for my panic is that ive ordered win 7 instead of windows 8. My reasoning behind this is that windows 7 drivers are further develpoed and more stable for the audio software/hardware i use. i used xp for ages for the same reason, as it is better to have a stable machine for live shows than one with the most up to date drivers/operating system ect. It obviously then became important to uise more than 4gb of ram so 64 bit os it is. My problem is wether this is still the case? i know windows will support users for 10 or so more years on win 7, but will this be a case of from now on m-audio(my audio interface) will relase updated win 8 drivers only? anyway im a little panicked over which operating system will be better for my needs??? mainly using the laptop for audio purposes use with ableton live/reason ect. for live performance shows so stability is better than the latest windows drivers ect. sorry if this isnt the best description......

I have windows 7 and its stable as you like. I would also be very suprised if companies stopped supporting 7 any time soon, even if they threaten to, there's something like 600 million devices with 7, thats a big door to close, there'd be uproar.

Windows 8 might provide a slicker interface which would benefit a live performance however, but as I don't have it, I can only speculate.

If you do get 7 and register before 31st Jan 2013 you can upgrade to 8 for £15 through a microsoft promotion, i think it all has to be done before end of Jan though.

Cool. Just check the T&C on the upgrade. I got the impression the upgrade iteself has to be done before the end of Jan as well from the emails i've read. I don't want to stitch you up! :)

I don't think there's any likelihood at all of device manufacturer's abandoning Windows 7 for driver updates.
