An idiot I am I know, I have misplaced my windows 8 product key, I am sure that it can be found on the computer if one looks in the right place. Problem......WHERE IS THAT PLACE and how do I get there please???????

Try the back of the PC

If its a laptop, try underneith the laptop.

If Windows 8 was pre-installed there will be a sticker on the bottom of the laptop. If you bought a downloadable copy the key will be in the confirmation email from Microsoft. If you bought a boxed DVD the key will be on a card inside the box.

If all else fails Google "find Windows 8 product key", there are a number of software products (often free) that will display the key of an installed Windows 8 system.
