Windows Stop Code errors and now won't boot up

Hi,

For around six months I've been getting random crashing of the system, sometimes with various different windows stop code errors. The only way to get the system up and running again was a reset using the button on the tower.

Now my machine will not boot up past the pc specialist logo. It moves to the spinning logo wheel and freezes at that point.

Advice I've been given so far is to ensure the windows boot manager was set as the primary boot drive in bios but this has not resolved the issue. By the way it crashes in bios too.

I've also tried multiple full system restore with wipe of all files in case it was something I'd installed. No joy. I've not changed any hardware since new.

I've set up an RMA as it still has a labour warranty but I'm eager to know if anyone else has had this same issue before and if so, how do I go about preventing this from happening again or resolving easier in the future?

Not sure if its related but I'll mention it for completion. Last few months the fan noise has been noticeably louder (possible bearing gone?).

Any help/advice is much appreciated.

Thanks

At an educated guess I think your symptoms sound like overheating.

Will it boot after it's been switched off for a couple of hours?

If it is overheating and you're not comfortable repasting then a call to PCS is your best option. Although, since you're out of warranty, getting someone you trust and who knows what they're doing might be a cheaper option?

Thanks for your response.

Unfortunately its the same even after a few days being switched off.

Having said that, you could be on to something with the overheating if the fan noise does turn out to be at least part of the problem. If a bearing has gone, it might not be cooling as it should.

Will it boot the Windows install DVD (or a USB stick with Windows install files on it)?

Can you also post the full spec from the order page please, that way we can all see what we're looking at. :)

The H60 is not really suitable for that processor.... my guess as @ubuysa suggests is overheating related to the cooler. You'd really want an H100i on that processor.

Thank you for this.

I'd imagine it would be pretty straight forward to switch out the H60 for a H100i?

If not, I could get PCS to do this while they have my machine.

Yeah, I would ask PCS to do it while they have it.

It's very possible due to overheating that the CPU and/or motherboard have burnt out which is why it's struggling.
