work/home PC for CAD and photo

Looking at this spec for wok/home PC. As well as the standard office suit I'll be using high end cad software (solid works or possibly catia v5), also editing photo with light room and eventually Photoshop and video with moviemaker. I have 1Tb SATA HDD and DVD writer to go in plus I have another Samsung 24" screen to attach (will be a 2 screen setup). Any thoughts?

The WD Blue SSDs aren't particularly fast. An 850 Evo will be a bit faster, and won't use up one of your M.2 slots. Alternatively you could go for the 500gb 960 Evo M.2 SSD which is much faster than either.

The Ultra Gaming mobo has a similar featureset to the Z370-H but it has USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type C.

The 8700k could ideally have a better cooler especially if you're video editing.

The sound card will probably have little or no benefit - the onboard sound is quite good and you're only looking at £69 speakers.

And tbh I'm not convinced by spending £69 on a pretty simple 2.0 speaker set.

For a £2000 system, a more efficient and better quality PSU would seem appropriate.

As much as I like the Inwin GT1, for a £2000 system a bit better a case might be worth it.

Thanks very much Oussebon !
I've not had the luxury of a decent speaker set up as the video is be played on HD TV system not on the PC once edited. Also and I seldom listen to music on the PC as I have a very basic speaker set up at the moment but that may change if I have better sound. Would the motherboard be able to drive a better speaker set up or would in need to add a sound card as well?
Thanks

The motherboard has fairly decent onboard sound. The 'bottleneck' to your audio experience is probably still going to be your speakers/headphones, especially if you're shopping in the budget/mid range - i.e. it won't be the motherboard that's limiting what relatively cheap speakers can do.

I'm not really convinced how much better a pair of speakers for £69 are really going to be. Depending on what your current speakers are, I'd suggest going for something like the Creative A250 2.1 set for £32 to get you by. If you decide you want something better down the line, you can look into some proper speakers and a USB DAC, rather than a fairly cheap or mid-range gamer-oriented soundcard.

I'd suggest checking out https://www.head-fi.org/ and the articles and forums there.

It's certainly at least worth trying out the onboard audio before making any decision about whether/what soundcard or DAC to buy :)
