Hi all, don't normally get too involved with servers but I changed jobs recently and now i have to get a server to host our PDM software and all our technical models&drawings.
I received this from the PDM company

Have you got a budget for it?

To be honest i would ask the software supplier for a recommended spec rather than a 'Minimum' and 'Good' spec based on your amount of users and possible growth then get them to sign off on anything you specified so you don't have any support issue down the line

I presume PDM is an Autodesk vault type of thing but for Solidworks? So it's just holding config rather than processing anything intensive?

It looks very low end and not very expandable, if you were staying with this i would put another drive in their for the OS though and the power supply looks pretty low end, up the RAM to 32GB as SQL (even Express) can hog RAM big time, change the HDD to Iron Wolf as they are designed for NAS/Servers etc.
