My friend started playing it and suggested I try it, everything is obtainable for free although as usual paying for premium speeds things up, you do get some free premium time when you level a bit but I bought a 3day Premium for like £2.99 and spent a weekend grinding
The game is in open beta, at the moment you have 10 tiers of Japanese and American ships, a few USSR ships and Royal Navy due after official release. You have to play each class of ship to earn experience to upgrade to the next tier for that class or the adjacent class, I started with cruisers and moved to a battleship then along to a carrier, really enjoying the carrier although the top down view for carrier takes some getting used to.
Here is a couple screens of my last fight, I sunk one of every class of ship and shot down some planes. Great game and really looking forward to the next tier of carrier. Currently I am unlocking the Japanese ships then will move to the american ships.
