The best thing to do and easiest is to make sure the drivers are not corrupt or something.
Get the latest drivers from Nvidia and choose Advanced install, click the clean install option and install the drivers.. this will remove the old drivers and re-install the new ones.
Pretty sure It Is the latest driver.
You could try reinstalling It,but If there's no improvement, either try what I suggested (previous version)or wait,as DeD suggested,
not sure he was serious though, could be a long wait.
exactly the problem i had if you want to read my post http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?5529-Computer-freezes-when-watching-live-streaming
I tried all the recommendations etc but still no good
I rung up technical support on tuesday explaining and the tech person on the phone reckons its a fault in the gfx card so they sent me out a new replacement the next day on next day delivery.
Now i have only had it installed since last night but i haven't(touch wood) had the problem since after being on it for a few hrs etc.
just out of curiosity what card was it? mine was a gtx460 if its the same maybe there is a faulty batch.
GTX 570 here. Tbh I have seen these things before, and its not resulted in needing a new card, so i'll wait and see how much it happens, and a new update before I get tooooo worried
So far with most games it just flashes black for a sec, and does the pop up "kernel" messsage in the bottom tray.
However, after (eventually) playing Brink, it now crashes out of the game, with both the pop up tray message, and a full error message in hte middle of the screen, to the effect of:
"The nVidia Opengl driver lost connection with the display driver and is unable to continue"
I did a full reinstall of the latest drivers (clean install) last night.
I reeeeeaaalllly hope its not the card or anything else hardware related
by the sounds of it you need to ring tech support as i did, it sounds like the same problem as mine. The tech people told me they think there is a fault in a certain part of the card, pcs were brilliant and sent me out a replacement straight away!
touch wood i haven't seen the message since and hope not to either
me and a mate have a gtx 465, we both get it playing Brink. ive only had it once. but hes had it a few times. its not often tho and we can watch youtube at 1080p without any stops or anything. i would probablyjust wait for the next update. or revert to a previous version.
Installed this driver today to confirm for you guys, I'm getting the same problem. So it's back to the last stable v. you had or put up with it... doesn't seem to happen much but if it happens at all it seems to more frequently until it hangs the machine. That's what happened to me but it's been 5 hours uptime on the nose since then with no problem.
Another round of crashes after 9 hours uptime, this time it's looking bad. Detailed a bit more here. If you're seeing this problem I'd roll back ASAP or better, clean install the previous version. Hopefully this is just a coincidence and something decided to die on that PC
i think there is a problem atm with brink and the openGL problem DeD, though i myself have not had this issue while playing Brink and im on a 570 also, had it pop up once a week after i got my PC but its never showed up since :>
nvidia window kernel driver stopped working but has recovered nvidia gts 450. i tried almost everything: old drivers, latest ones, win 7 32, 64 bit, i used ccleaner, driver swepper. What next ?! I start to belive it is a hardware problem, i have the pc from pcspecialist for about 2 weeks ago. Can anyone have an ideea what coud be? Or what shud i try next ? thanks
