I was unable to find any AMD laptops, all the chassis that list AMD as an option then only give you Intel CPU options.
I assume the lack of answers to my post is due to it being a laptop, I would prefer a PC but my living circumstances mean power outages are extremely likely, if there is a way for me to have a PC that doesn't shut off when the mains go off then I would like to know about it.
Thanks.

A UPS is the only real option there. I am in the same situation as you; in a rural area where the power goes up and down like a yo-yo during winter storm season. Over the years, I have acquired multiple UPSs - one for modem, router and telephone base station; one for monitors and peripherals; one for the NAS server, and last but not least, a new one especially for my new PC that arrived last week. It is expensive, but it is one of the tradeoffs of living in the sticks.

The power has already gone out twice this week alone, so it is a worthwhile investment.

Another plus for a UPS. My 1.5 kVA UPS holds up my PC, monitor, router, and external backup drive for well over 30 minutes when the power fails. I also have it setup to auto-shutdown the PC if the power is off for 20 minutes (in the middle of the night for example).
