Ethernet Not Working - No Internet

The modem is fine, and works with two other laptops on wireless or ethernet.

But my computer from PC Specialist has stopped recognising the LAN cable and keeps saying "Plug an ethernet cable into this computer"

I have tried refreshing the Windows 8 but it still won't work.

Any ideas?

Have you tried reinstalling LAN drivers from the motherboard software disk.

The ethernet worked before I found the motherboard disc. I did reinstall everything but still no joy. I am now trying to reinstall from scratch.

Failing that try another ethernet cable to confirm or eliminate the possibility of a faulty cable.

What motherboard do you have?

It's not the cable, since it works on my two laptops.

The disc says Z87-K.

Try downloading the drivers from here.

Reinstalled Windows but it now seems to stall on startup with

Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Series v2.52 (11/28/12)

Then does nothing.

So it's not even booting into Windows properly?

No. It installed from the CD and then on reboot gave me that.

Got it working by going into BIOS and booting from hard drive.

Windows is reinstalled and Ethernet still does not work.

Is anything showing amiss in device manager.

Unknown Device

This is what IS installed in device manager:

Network Adapters
- Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter
- Realtex PCIe GBE Family Controller

Insert the motherboard software disk to install any missing drivers.

Install Everything?

You said there is an unknown device,running the motherboard disk installation might install the necessary driver/s.
