Thanks that clears some stuff up, will I be able to find out what you will be offering on the 27th? From what I've seen there is going to be a 'reworking' but I've not heard any mention of an update to the lafité series and if I am going to be offered another laptop I'd really like whatever the next iteration of this series will be or something very similar if the lafite is not available.

Anyone who has the i5/i7 Lafité on order (and also shortly the i3 too) will be getting a free upgrade to the Lafité II which has an improved touchpad and a backlit keyboard in addition to the very latest 6th generation Intel Core Processor and chipset. It will of course be a free upgrade. :)

I'm in a similar boat with a Defiance that I ordered on 24th August (i7-4720HQ, 980M) which was apparently built and ready to test, but had a damaged chassis. And by that point, there were no 4th gen chassis remaining.

Would the free upgrade apply to unfulfill-able Defiance orders too?

Hi folks at PCS

I have on order:
UltraNote: 15.6" Matte HD LED Backlit Widescreen (1366x768)
Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i5 Dual Core Mobile Processor i5-4210M (2.60GHz) 3MB

Will this laptop with the i5 processor be affected. 11 Working Days in Pre-Production, sent an email on 18/09/15 for confirmation it will meet my deadline delivery on 25th Sep but haven't heard back yet. Just sent another email again just now. Should I start looking elsewhere?

Did they provide a deadline delivery of the 25th? For an official and prompt response you may want to try calling them

25th is my deadline, too late after this, it'll be PC World after this. Their system said 9-11 days in the ordering process so that was allowing nearly an extra week of leeway. Meant to call them but that busy at work it's hard to remember at an appropriate time. I'll try to call tomorrow.

Looked like a good little laptop too so will be disappointed if it doesn't materialise.

If you need it without a time frame you could use fast track but the times you quoted are estimates. Their lines are open until 8pm

Thanks Keynes, I'll check if fast track is still an option and I'll call first thing tomorrow to allow as much time as possible. Cheers for the help and info

To be honest,i wouln't have thought fast track would make any difference as they have been very busy lately.

Prioritise the build, different department (as far as I know) and it should speed up delivery as long as items are in stock

If for any reason they do not fulfil the fast track you get the money of that service back. And you can only get fast track if all items are in stock.

And as said, you wont be able to choose fast track if the items are not in stock, like the new Chassis, or the CPU or the Motherboard.

Just thought I would add my two cents and say I am pretty stoked with how PCS has handled my individual case in this new chassis saga.
I ordered the Defiance II on 15/09 - whilst PCS didn't inform me at the time the chassis was end of line I found out by trawling the forums. I then contacted PCS to determine what the course of action was and they said you can either cancel the order now, or wait for the updated chassis and the 6th gen processors which are due 27/09 - although there may be an additional cost associated with the new build.

I decided to wait, and today I've received a call from PCS saying they will update my order to new chassis, processor and GPU free of charge!

Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™ i7 Quad Core Processor i7-4720HQ (2.60GHz, 3.5GHz Turbo)
Change to: New 6th Gen Intel® Core™ i7 Processor - Launching 27th September

Memory (RAM) 8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X IMPACT 1600MHz SODIMM DDR3 (1 x 8GB)
Change to: 8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X IMPACT 2400MHz SODIMM DDR4 (1 x 8GB)

Graphics Card NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 970M - 3.0GB DDR5 Video RAM - DirectX® 12
Change to: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 970M - 6.0GB DDR5 Video RAM - DirectX® 12

The only downside is that now the ETA on new parts is mid-October (well at least this is what PCS have told me) - although PCS 'will prioritize my build' considering the amount of people that appear to have been affected by this delay I don't think I'll be seeing my new Laptop until the end of October.... Which means more waiting!!!! For a guy without a computer or TV at the moment, it's a tough break. Maybe I'll finally sign up for the gym??? haha

Got an email about 7am this morning to say the laptop had entered the building stage. Not sure if my posts or email sent again last night triggered this. Called PCS after 9am to check on ETA which they said would be next Monday. After explaining this would be too late they offered to send to any address in the UK which might have helped in certain cases, but when I explained USA then no option for that lol. They did then speak to the builders/testers and sadi they would do their best to get it finished today/tomorrow, and dispatched tomorrow for delivery on Friday. If they did find a fault though during testing they wouldn't be able to send it of course. Either way they will let me know if dispatched tomorrow or not, allowing me to organise something else.

Good work PCS and well handled once I got in touch by phone. Lets hope all runs smooth in testing.

WTF, I am in the exact same situation (but 980M instead of 970M, and I ordered mine a week after you did), and they are only offering me a discount of 50, so I still have to pay 80 for the upgrade. I'm going to call them again tomorrow, this is nonsense.

The problem you have here is that you have different hardware.

The chassis cost for the 970 to the 970 is more of less the same so with us absorbing the same discount we gave you, we can cover the chassis change.

In your case the price difference between the two is in the region of £130 - we cannot absorb this cost - its not nonsense and everyone with the same chassis as you, with your spec would have to pay the same.

If you would like to go back to your original order of the chassis with the 970 (which you already paid an upgrade of £81 for) you would receive this amount back and we wouldn't have to charge you for the change in chassis to the new Skylake.

TL;DR - Your spec is different and the costs are different.

Thanks for the reply, I was under the impression that the price difference would be similar on both 970/980 chassis. Spoke to someone on the phone who explained the same.
