RTX 3080

I ordered a build with an RTX 3080 on September 21st which at the time had an estimated build time of 10 days. I was contacted on September 29th (3days ago) and told my order should be complete on October 5th.
I just received an email stating that PC Specialists cannot give "an accurate ETA for any of the RTX 30 series cards, it could be up to a few weeks depending on your position in the queue."
Taking into consideration I completed the order on September 21st what would be a realistic date for me to expend a build with an RTX 3080?

No one can tell you that I'm afraid. The situation with the 3080's is that nVidia have completely balsed up and are producing tiny amounts, so they just ship them when they're available. Every supplier is in the same boat, they're just waiting for dribs and drabs.

We have no idea when this will improve.

Would Nvidia or ASUS cards come into stock quicker than the other or would it just be similar time frames.

Money no object would have to be a super-ultrawide system IMO. It would really depend on the games though, what games is it you are likely to play?

In your shoes I would definitely be holding out for the next generation of AMD chips. There are AMD GPUs due out too. IMO it's unlikely that they will really compete with Nvidia but they certainly will for price which will be all the better for the consumer.

RTX3080 is the card you want. The 3090 is a workhorse card, as suggested. Take the money saved, stick it in a box and buy the 3080Ti when it comes out, it looks to be an all round monster.

I'd like to wait but I need it for work (Resolve editing and colour). I phoned PC-Specialists on Friday from Ireland and after waiting an hour on hold I was convinced that by the agent that I would be waiting months for the 3080 so as advised I amended my order to 2070 Super as I can't wait any longer I need to start working again. A 2070 Super should do me for now and I'm thinking that I will upgrade to a 3080 in 2021 when there is more stock in.
Can anyone tell me how this would affect my warranty if I was to upgrade my GPU in six months time?

It wouldn't affect it at all (unless you damaged something installing a new GPU of course). PCS operate an "open-case" policy...basically, you can go in and replace most of the components without affecting your warranty. From the T&Cs

"Unlike with most computer companies, we allow you to open your case and install your own components without voiding your warranty on the following conditions:
If the actions of the person installing the components cause damage to the computer, your warranty will be void;
If you install components that are not purchased from us and they cause problems with your computer, your warranty will be void;
If you install components that are not purchased from us we will in no way support you in installing them or with any problems you have relating to the components you have installed.
We will support you in installing components purchased from us providing you have purchased them through the upgrade service available on your online account."
So I can purchase a GPU upgrade in 2021 from PCS without affecting by warranty, that's great thanks for your help!

Might be worth checking in again with PCS. I've had a chat to them today, apparently my 3080 has now been assigned and they should be posting out by 19th, they are just awaiting stock for the cooler before they build.

Appreciate the update, thank you.
I just rang PCS and they said a 3080 order was due to arrive yesterday but it didn't arrive yet it should come in today not many (25 units) and I would still be waiting months of a 3080. I was advised to stay with the GPU downgrade.

Placed my order on the 18th of September. Their email said they’re getting small amounts of stock gradually and just that basically we have to wait our turn as there’s no ETA. Fingers crossed it won’t be too much longer. 👍🏼

I didnt order until the 24th September with an asus 3080.
Today I got an email saying they are building it.
Surprised its so early considering others are still waiting from orders on launch day
Its a liquid series, don't know if they have a separate queue perhaps?
The gpu water block wasn't expected until mid October, though I guess we are there now.

Yes got the email today that its in building stage.
Could it just be an automated one? As I got an email friday saying the building would start today but didn't pay much attention to it as they had said to ignore the automated emails regarding possible build dates.

To be honest I sort of wish it wasn't as i was planning to ring them and ask if I could switch the cpu to the knew ryzen ones coming 5th Nov.
Wasn't expecting mine to be ready anytime soon so hadn't got round to it.
May ring when I get back from work and see whats going on and if I still have an option to hold off until nov 5th time.
Not sure that would be possible though if it is indeed in building now.

It seems that the Liquid series builds get priority over a standard build. Kinda annoying because I ordered my ROG 3080 at 2pm on the 17th but I guess it is what it is. Got an estimated build date of Friday so fingers crossed it's actually correct this time :)

Excuse my lack of knowledge but what defines liquid series? Is that the cooler or something else? God I'd love to get an ETA soon. Mine says friday too but i think that was an automated mail again. Ordered at 14:01 launch day too, but changed to ROG soon as it went up.
