New PC purchased for stepson at Christmas. When connecting to the monitor (AcerKG271) we’re just getting an ‘input not supported’ message on the screen. Help needed please before a young man loses it!!

Ok, I assume you're trying to connect using HDMI, firstly are you sure you are plugging into the HDMI on the GRAPHICS card and not the motherboard, if you are plugging into the graphics card then check in the monitor menu and see what the input is set to & if it isn't already set then set it to HDMI or auto select

Yes, it’s definitely hooked up to the graphics card and Auto Source is selected on the monitor. Is it worth ordering a display port cable and trying that?

When the PC is turned on do you get any beeps or sounds?

Are you able to try something else on the monitor to check it works properly and also are you able to try the PC on another screen / tv at all.

Just narrowing down here where the error might be occurring.

Try changing to HDMI, does that monitor support display port, if so display port is better than hdmi

There’s a beep when it’s switched on. The monitor worked fine for about 45 minutes when we first attached the PC to it then it started to display the error message. Tried the PC with two separate TV’s with no luck. Thanks.

Ok, so it did work then this started to happen?

Try the following:
with the PC turned off at the socket but still plugged in touch the frame to earth yourself then remove and replace the graphics card

I have no idea how to remove the graphics card I’m afraid 😩

Hello Joannec. You mentioned that you see the error "input not supported" on your monitor. That may suggest that the screen resolution was set to a high resolution not supported by the monitor. Do you know if anyone attempted changed the screen resolution?

You can try booting the PC in safe mode, which will use a low screen resolution, and the monitor should then work, and allow you to change the screen resolution permanently to one supported by the monitor.

Any other suggestions folks? I’ve tried contacting pscpecialists twice by phone (asked to leave a voicemail) and sent a few emails. I’ve got a very disappointed boy here who’s prowling the house like a wounded wolf!!! I very much appreciate everyone’s efforts 👍🏻.
