[Making a new PC] I would like some help please

We love you Ukraine
I will change a lot of things, my budget is about 2,000 pounds. My monitor is a NEC MultiSync EA244QMi which is 60 Hz, I might get a new one soon but that will be much later. The resolution is 1920x1200.
I would like to use the PC for gaming, as well as video editing. The games - I would like to play new ones that are modern and very advnaced like Resident Evil 8.
The monitor is going to botlleneck any modern build, it's not suitable for gaming really.

The above build posted by @MrWilson is far better, but you'd need a suitable monitor with it which would be around £200 for a budget one.

I did think so, is it still Okay to get a PC, use it on the current monitor (even though it's bottlenecking,) and much later on i'll buy a new monitor? It shouldn't damage the monitor, right? It will just not display the best picture it can because it's being held back?

We could adjust the build and try to factor in a suitable monitor as well.

Something like this:

And pair it with a decent 1080p 144Hz monitor, this one is full IPS and very good value:

I'm not sure how the pro's feel about this but spending less of the budget on the PC and getting a monitor to go with it now.

This build will be a great PC for gaming but might be held back a little on the video editing side. Ryzen 5 5600X is a great all round CPU and 3060TI is a great 1440p 144hz pairing. RAM wise, I've left in 32GB as I feel that'll be benifical for the video editing. For storage, there's a 500GB SSD for Windows, a 1TB SSD for games and programs and 2TB for general file storage. The RM850 will power it comfortably power this system and leave room for upgrades down the line.

I've added the wifi version of the motherboard, but if WiFi isn't needed it can be taken out to save some money. Also if you have a Windows PC already that won't be used once this arrives, you can copy the key over to save £85 which can be spent elsewhere.

That leaves about £300 for a monitor. For 1440p 144hz the Samsung G5 is a forum favourite but is beaten by a AOC CQ27G2U in an RTings review. Both of these are curved panels but a flat version can be found for the AOC called the Q27G2U if that's something you'd prefer. All three can be found for £300 or less online.

Thank you very much for your time, I still have A LOT of preperation to do, I will save this quote. With my monitor, I am limited by a lot, now i'm deciding if i should get a new monitor, but I like the sound of your suggestion, only I would make a few changes like having no HDDs and swap them all with SSDs. I shall consider this build, at this point I think i should just start over from scratch and use your ideas.

SSD's shouldn't be used for storage drives, there is a reason. There is no warning when an SSD fails, it works one second the next it's gone, and it's the whole drive that fails, not parts of it.

HDD's have plenty of warning when they start to fail. It's starts in individual sectors which can be isolated.

Also Data doesn't benefit from being at SSD speeds so the cost / size difference makes much more sense to use HDD's for storage.

Hi, I have noticed that the Graphics card are really in demand and the Nvidia RTX 3060, 3070 and 3080 say "Pre-Order" and it will say "a delivery date will not be guaranteed," You see, originally, i wanted the 2060, so I waited patiently for the estimation date, but then when it finally came, it said i had to wait 2 more months.

Am I better off getting an item that says "Pre-Order" and join in a queue, because i've been waiting a while and would like to get a new PC soon. For those who have bought a GPU that says "Pre-Order," how long did you have to wait?

No one really knows unfortunately due to the worldwide issue regarding supply of computer components in general. You could order a 3000 series GPU, join the queue and then if you see the 2060 come back in change your order to grab one of those.

Its ultimately only a decision you can make :D

seeing that they no longer make 2060 I think you'll be on a loser there, if you can post your spec, budget, uses & monitor details (resolution and refresh rate, or make and model) then perhaps we can advise what would be best

Everyone does want a PC soon. But here me waiting for a better supply and price drops since November... haven't ordered yet! 🤣

3060Ti is in a bad place now regarding the supply. Easier to get a 3070 or AMD 6700XT for 1440p.

For 1080p now I'd probably take 1660 Super or Ti, whichever is the cheapest and around summer time or in autumn 3050Ti while for 1440p now I'd take 3070 or 3060Ti when it gets in stock, or 6700XT if it gets cheaper.

NVidia discontinued 2060 and I don't think it will get stocked with significant quantities.

Thanks, I might do that, I did not know that you can chose a graphics card and later on change it before you PC is being made.

Also, I have decided to buy a new monitor as well as a new PC. The monitor I would like to get is a

IIYAMA G-MASTER GB2760QSU-B1 27"

144HZ Refresh Rate, 1440p, 27 inch size

I have seen Youtube videos about it and although i've seen some negativity about the colours, I do not think it will be much of an issue for a starting monitor, much later on I will buy a new one.

I did think about getting the 1660, however I think I would like to get a more advanced one (which is why i wanted 2060 at first! But now with the stock issues, I might change to rtx 3060 if it is quicker even though it's a "pre-order" item)

Oh I just saw your message about 2060 being discontinued!

Thank you for telling me! looks like i'm unable to buy it then, even on Amazon. No wonder why it was Greyed out in your menu

I wouldn't buy the above IIYAMA monitor. Amazon in this product item says it's 1ms, but in the detailed description and a quick research shows it's actually 5ms. It's also the oldest (TN) panel.

You need a VA or IPS panel.

I'd suggest the below AOC for this price point.

Thanks for letting me know, it's such a shame that it is misleading people!
I will scrap that and search for another monitor, the one you recommended looks nice!

About the talk about the 2060 being discontinued, it is no longer greyed out and it says that i can order.
This is not a glitch, right? So I can get the 2060 after all?

It's discontinued, but there may be some quantities left and there apparently is some sort of supply of them. I don't know how many items PCS have of these, but I also noticed they got 2060 in stock yesterday. You can amend an order even after paying (if not purchased with finance) if you build will get stuck due to unpredictable 2060 supply, and you could change to 1660 Super, if you'd like.
