Hi guys

That didn't go well...

After a, shall we say heated discussion, she has decided the only size case she wants is 14", so it is easily portable.

Do you think it is worth having one made? because they don't look all that inspiring to me.

Or

Going to a shop and buying a named one already made up, with more features, but costing more?

Thank You

Yeah, unfortunately PCS don't really cater for higher power 14" chassis.

Check your PMs

These are brand new chassis with the brand new 8000 series AMD processors which include AI cores. But the processors aside from the AI stuff are supposed to be really good and FAR more efficient than the intel equivalents.

It's roughly on par with the Intel 13700H which is SUBSTANTIALLY more expensive and hits crazy temperatures

The AMD chassis normally don't last very long because they're extremely popular.

It's also got a brand new 500 Nit LED screen which given the price is quite high end, so should be bright and great colours.

To me, it's a really nice chassis, but it is brand new, I've done a few searches but can't find any reviews as yet.

Just to set expectations, laptop GPU's are different silicon to a desktop and a few tiers down.

So a laptop 4060 is around equivalent to a desktop 4050

It's a 1080p card, BUT the chassis has a 1440p screen.

So to get acceptable frame rates, you'd need to lower settings quite substantially to achieve 60fps in a lot of games

Also, for me, I'd never order a laptop without Gold Warranty, reason being is if something like the GPU fails, it's part of the motherboard these days, you can't just buy a replacement card and fit it, you have to buy the entire barebones assembly which is almost the price of a new laptop. I would cover yourself as long as possible on a laptop.

But other than that, it all looks good.

Thanks Spyder

Frame rates do not matter so much, as long as it has a bit of grunt in the processing department.

I have been putting the Gold Warranty in my trials, but keep forgetting when i put them on here, it does look a good buy, especially for someone like me who knows next to nothing.

Found out the reason she wants small, she has been using a Surface Pro & wants something that is as small and thin as that.

I can understand her wanting that for portability, but just got to convince her that she needs more power, so bigger item :)

Thanks again

The one I PM'd you about would smash this all over the place though, I will say that, it's the equivalent price and 14"

Looks good. The firewire card won't do any harm but it is a bit antiquated. Quite the bumper build though.

If it's just for transfer you can use a USB to Firewire cable for the most part.

Cheers Scott

I have deleted it because i think the camcorder has a Mini USB.

I will try and find another way.

Hiya Guys, @Spyder - @Scott - @Martin, sorry for bumping this one but didn't see the point in starting one in the "Show of your new computer" thread, because it says images are too large, story of my life :ROFLMAO:

Thank you for all your help

After being away as soon as it arrived, i finally got to have a play, not sure i have it set up correctly yet, i have made some mistakes that i think other new PC buyers could benefit from.

1) I went with some advice on the internet (i know ) to NOT use my Microsoft account and use another set up.

2) When you do this, Microsoft stop you being able to use certain features.

3) Multiple monitors, when setting up initially, i made a big mistake and clicked on what i thought was monitor 1 but it turned out to be monitor 2, you cannot change this unless you used your Microsoft Account, so now i have to live with it or re-install windows.

4) I could not get a good picture on the PC watching TV, it would just keep stuttering all the time while using a certain couple of apps on Bluestacks, it is NOT the PC it is the settings on the apps you use.

5) IF you haven't bought a new PC in a lot of years, WOW get ready, unless it it just me o_O

6) I do not like Windows 11

Again, Thank You for all your help

You can change a local user account to a Microsoft account at any time, you don't need to reinstall windows

The only time windows would be restricted is if it's not licensed. If the license is assigned to your Microsoft account, you have to be logged into that for it to find the license
