I see what you mean - the computer is enabling the blue light to flash through providing the electricity but it's not actually detecting the hardware. I don't hear any beeps and the device manager remains exactly the same....

So, I think what you're suggesting is that the IDT High Definition Audio isn't the microphone that I'm trying to get to work at all!

Well interestingly, it is exactly the same - the only difference is that the blue light in the new microphone has (obviously!) stopped flashing!
