So this might be my final update. Had the laptop back now for 2 week easily. Effectively the issue was a bad eprom flash, suspect when my laptop was shipped missing a BIOS update. the one i was given was also faulty. The laptop as a whole is running alot cooler and no more black screens. So...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST RMA Problem!

@Zoltarian I completely understand how you feel. I had to RMA my laptop 6 weeks ago. I do find the lack of comms around a estimated ETA highly frustrating. I asked support about queue/backlog and for a ruff eta, which they simply said they are not allowed to discuss it. It was frustrating to...

Week 6 after RMA now. So I'm hoping that after 6 weeks of nothing PCSpecialist will finally give me a eta or something, as they said 5-6 weeks before someone even looks at it when I done the RMA.. Will update again when PCSpecialist get in contact again with something.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Nova 15.6 Overheating CPU

I found turning all FANs including CPU to maximum. The GPU sits around 79c in Entertainment mode. I think pressure + better thermal pads (to allow better pressure) might be the answer in my case. Also expect the cooling pad due to arrive today will have a small but noticeable impact.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Nova 15.6 Overheating CPU

I don't think the issue is CPU related. as that sits happily at 70c while the GPU is climbing. I Suspect the heat sink is not making a good enough contact with the GPU core. but that is all i can think of. But i have to wait for new pads and more paste so i can give it a really good clean and...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Nova 15.6 Overheating CPU

I repasted again, this is what it looked like when i took the heatsink off. After repasting. Idle temp for GPU is 46c. running CyberPunk 2077 set to Ray Tracing: Medium GPU will eventually settle around 85-86c. This is will the GPU fan kicking in around 77c to full speed and staying there...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Nova 15.6 Overheating CPU

So finally had time to sit and play games again. sadly to play games i need to turn settings down mostly. Ifi push the GPU to hard whole system overheats and shutsdown. as long as GPU stays below 80c im good. Ive changed Thermal Pads, repasted, done the required CPU bios update etc...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Nova 15.6 Overheating CPU

So thermal pads 2.0m are too thick. 1.0m that were used i think were too think and not making good/full contact, Replaced with Artic Thermals 1.5m pads (order 2.0, 1.5 and 1.0 to be sure). was able to crank a game up to full everything and not have screen go black.. Other symptoms i started...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Nova 15.6 Overheating CPU

So to clarify is it not a backlight issue 100%. I have no need to carry out that test as I use the laptop with the lid closed and use external displays. and they go black simply cause laptop has stopped. It has all the hallmarks of overheating protection mode. I've order some new grizzly paste...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Nova 15.6 Overheating CPU

I know the thermal pads don't fully cover my VRMs. I'm not doing any manual tuning at all, everything is just stock. And sadly i've not noticed any thermal throttling happening. just a straight up crash/blackscreen. The laptop is of course very well ventilated.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Nova 15.6 Overheating CPU

Full load the CPU sits around 79c and periodically will spike to around 90c. After which the screen will go blank, fans will keep spinning and nothing happens until i turn it off and restart. CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900 GPU: Nvidia GTX 2070 IT was confirmed i was missing a BIOS update and tech...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Nova 15.6 Overheating CPU

So the previous thermal issue seems to have reappeared, Unable to run the laptop at full load it will overheat and turn off. Suspect this is a issue with my laptop. Guessing no one else started to have the issue of late.
