Hi, I don't know if this is an oversight on my part or theres a quick solution.

I bought 2 x 8GB Corsair XMS3 1600mhz memory sticks and when installed to the two blue slots on my ASUS P7H55-M/USB3 board, it wont boot. It either remains black screen, or gets to Asus Mobo info and completely freezes.

Does this board support 2 8GB sticks, or should I send them back and get 4 4GB ones ?

Thanks so much in advance :)

Best check your motherboard manual for "memory configurations".

I Have mate.... it doesn't say anything about having two 8Gb slots yet it doesnt mention limit per slot either. Although it does say dual channel, supports 16 Gig. I am on 7, 64 bit too. I can't even get into the bios to change anything one these Dimms are installed.

Had a quick look at the manual,at page 1.7.2 it says "You may install 512MB,1GB,2GB and 4GB DIMMS,so I would take from that,it doesn't support 8GB sticks.

Ahh, yes you're probably right. As I say, an over-sight from myself I've been so busy lately.... that's a shame. Nevertheless, i'll get the refund they've offered and buy 4x4 GB sticks.

In case you were wondering why I need 16GB, I probably dont but i do lots of music engineering / producing and design so I thought I'd just max it out.

Is a Slot limit a physical thing then... or a BIOS set limit ? Just wondering if theres any BIOS revisions that enable this board to use 8GB per slot ( as a last ditch effort before returning DIMMS ) ?

As far as I know,if the motherboard isn't capable there's no way round it,but I could be wrong.
