£1300-£1500 budget for a full set up

I'm looking for a complete set up a monitor roughly 22-24" and a desktop, that'll allow me to play games such as fifa, football manger, cod, fortnite etc. I will also be using the pc to multi task with microsoft programmes and internet browsing whilst using nox(android emulator) as well.

i have done some searching around the forum and found this set up, i would like some advice as to whether this would be suitable or not, any help would be appreciated guys.

also if this is a decent set up can you recommend a monitor as well please?

Hi @saman_1998 what sort of resolution would you like to play the games at? That drives the GPU choice, alternatively the GPU could drive the monitor choice, there are also two differnt builds on that page.

Do you want a SFF (small form factor) build specifically?

1080p or a 1440p is what is what i woud be looking at, but given my budget i get that a decent 1440p might be difficult. Also I was looking at the second build from that post, and no I would be happy with any build, doesnt need to be a SSF.

Your budget is a decent one for a 1440p setup....however, 24" 1440p monitors are more expensive than 27" monitors (£100 more sometimes) as 24" isn't an optimal size for them
oh i didnt know in that case, i'm sure ill be able to adjust my desk enough to find the extra space for the monitor, but im not sure what sort of build i would be looking at?

to add on i have read the desktop bulduing guides and there is some build suggestions on there, would they be recommended? maybe one of these two?

Excellent Entry level 1440p £1,035* - https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/amd-am4-gen3-pc/SeSjRrBJte/
Excellent Mid-Level 1440p £1,199* - https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/amd-am4-gen3-pc/mXndDgqCNn/

So
However, if you could stretch the budget to £1700 (may not be possible I realise but just giving the option) then you could go for a 1440p 144Hz system:

I'm sorry i'm a bit of newbie to this whole thing, so the £1700 built is an overall better build in comparison to the £1500 or is it just the difference graphics?

Basically, it's just better graphics...the price difference is accounted for with the graphics card and monitor. For games like Call of Duty, 144Hz would be better. Have a read here and look at the video to see the difference between the 75Hz and 144Hz:

75Hz vs 144Hz

Don't get me wrong...75Hz will do a good job (I have a 1440p 75Hz system and my driving games look excellent), 144Hz is better, especially for shooting games
Ahhhh I see, I read the article and i think couging up that extra £200 is worth it in the long-term as well, so i think I will go with that option. Thank you so much for your help and the advice.

You're welcome :)

For the games you play, especially, COD, 144Hz will give a much better experience than 75Hz so it will definitely be worth the extra outlay....if you had just been playing racing games, FIFA etc, then 75Hz would be plenty. Just the nature of the games as COD has all the explosions etc
Placed the order and paid, just waiting for the PC now. Thank you once again. :)

Finally arrived and I love it :) Thank you guys once again.

Glad you are liking it. Good to see the 3600XT stock fan in action....was not expecting as much lighting on it as I thought it was just the ring that lit up
It’s quite effective isn’t it! I wasn’t expecting it that bright either, I like it, it’s pretty impressive for a stock cooler.

Yeah...everything I read said it had a "ring of lighting" implying just the rim of the housing. Honestly? In another case I would like the look of it...but the Focus G is perfectly suited to the subtle white lighting (well, and the non-so-subtle white lighting in the case of my GPU!)...the red just looks wrong to me...but maybe it's because I am so used to the white now
It’s not completely red, it keeps changing colour like a rainbow, it’s pretty cool all in all

Hi guys, I want to upgrade this set up, basically put in a better graphics card, so i can use a 240hz monitor? I might be being dumb, but can this build already support a 240hz monitor?

Firstly what resolution are you talking and why do you want 240hz? Do you understand what high refresh means? 99% of humans can't see a difference over 120hz

You'd need an upgrade on the PSU as a 650w will not be enough to handle a graphics card capable of anything above 1440p 144Hz....it might be borderline on a new GPU just at that level
if that's the case might as well use this for a few more years and then buy a whole new pc?

The point is, don't be swayed by the youtube and twitch influencers, they have no understanding of gaming hardware whatsoever, all they're interested in is the cool $2m dollar pay off for the ad spot.

Get feedback from actual gamers. You're almost certainly not going to get any benefit from 240Hz, it has no improvement on graphics at all, simply gives those with superhuman abilities literally a few microseconds extra reaction time.

Raising resolution returns a far better gaming experience than increasing refresh rate above 144Hz.
