Hey guys,

first time poster here, wondering if anybody could help me improve upon this spec for a budget gaming pc, i have recently decided to try pc gaming and whilst not giving up my x box have come to a budget of £600 tops, any price below this would be better appreciated.
i intend to play games such as star-craft 2, half life 2,minecraft , cod4/5 , ffallout 3/new vegas and would also like to render videos and light photo shop work. NOTE: may look into over clocking in later years as i am loking for this to last for at least 2-3 years.

It's a good build but if you want to overclock in the future you'll need the titan fenrir cooler and it would be a good idea to get 1600mhz RAM.

think maybe you need a better psu... for the 5770... on top of memory i recall as it being 600W recommended/miniumum on top spec conifg @ pcs(cant rememebr). 450W wont be enough

edit: yeap im correct, pcs say: Minimum PSU Requirement ->> 600w

Replacing a PSU is not hard, it's just a matter or unscrewing the four screws holidng the existing one in place, then disconnecting all the wires, and connecting all the devices to the new PSU, then screwing it in.

Thanks a lot and two last questions;

1) Would having a micro motherboard fit in a full size case + are there any disadvantages?

2) would the ATI radeon 5670 be adequate for my needs as present (my budget may not stretch that far if a new psu is needed ,and I have heard that gpu's are relatively easy to replace)?

Thanks for all the information and help

Kind regards

Jack

Hey,

1) It will cause no issues having a Micro Mobo in and standard case.

2) HD 5670 would be the absolute lowest GPU I would recommend for gaming. I would sacrifice elsewhere to get a better graphics card to be honest, for £600 you could get this;

Case
COOLERMASTER ELITE 310 BLUE CASE
Processor (CPU)
AMD PHENOM II X4 955 (3.20GHz/8MB CACHE/AM3) - BLACK EDITION
Motherboard
ASUS® M4A78LT-M: mATX MAINBOARD, DDR3, USB 2.0, SATA 3.0Gb/s
Memory (RAM)
4GB SAMSUNG DDR3 DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (2 X 2GB)
Graphics Card
1GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX460 SE - DVI,HDMI,VGA - DirectX® 11, 3D Vision Ready
Memory - 1st Hard Disk
500GB SERIAL ATA 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (7,200rpm)
1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
Memory Card Reader
INTERNAL 52 IN 1 CARD READER (XD, MS, CF, SD, etc) + 1 x USB 2.0 PORT
Power Supply
600W Quiet 80 PLUS Quad Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan (£59)
Processor Cooling
STANDARD AMD CPU COOLER
Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Network Facilities
ONBOARD 10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORT - AS STANDARD ON ALL PCs

- Slightly inferior CPU but still BE so can overclock if you want.
- Cheaper but better case (in my opinion)
- Better Graphics Card.
- 600W PSU to cover future upgrades.

I think this would be better for gaming when comparing it to a spec with a X4 965 & a HD 5670.
