Hi Guys, I have a budget of £500-600 and i'm wanting to upgrade the components in my pc. Below are the specs and as i know very minimal about desktops could i get one of you to point out what would be the biggest upgrades for me to buy. I.e GPU + RAM + Cooling. I am aware that the new GPU's are soon to be released but will they be within my price range? The main use for the PC is to play World of Warcraft and i'm wanting to upgrade it for the new expansion. Thanks for the help in advance.

Currently playing World of warcraft im getting as low as 15 fps in intensive situations which is just unplayable in my eyes and i'm pretty sure my CPU is not the issue. My GPU seems to spike to like 90 degrees for 5 seconds, the fans go mad then idles back to like 75-80.

The 970 is probably just under the 1660 Super to be honest. As much as it would be an upgrade, it's not going to be MUCH of one. That being said, unless there's something specific about the new upgrade WoW has tended to be CPU bound.

It may be worth upgrading to a 6700K and overclocking it. 4.7 should be easily achievable on a decent cooler (which the H55 isn't, so would need swapping out). IIRC the 6700 (non-k) can actually be overclocked too.

£600 could get you an AMD core setup though, which is definitely worth considering.

Do you have a link to the requirements of the new expansion? There's loads of things to consider here :)

Something is definitely broken, that isn't something that an upgrade would fix.

Could you run a Firestrike (standard, not extreme) benchmark?

Yeah, don't think Shadowlands has any major differences from previous expansions etc. I tend to agree with Scott that it sounds like something is wrong with your system somewhere as your system should run WOW better than that

Haha thats never good to hear, dont get me wrong most of the time in the outside world i sit at like 60-70 fps on high settings but if i'm raiding with all the projected textures and addons etc i dip to 15 fps a lot.

A vanilla game should run 100fps with that spec I would imagine.

It tends to be a CPU bound game though, an 8c16th 3800XT may be a good shout. You would need a new motherboard as well though. Is this an upgrade you would be OK to perform yourself or would you be looking to get someone to do it? I think you would probably be quoted ITRO £100 to complete an upgrade including re-installing Windows for you.

I've run the Firestrike Benchmark, https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/49527816?.

I've never done it before but more than up for trying. ITRO?

Looking at the firestrike score it does seem a little low on the GPU front. Frequency wise there seems to be something not quite right. The average temp of 80 on the GPU seems pretty high as well, for a 1 off Firestrike run.

Most users are managing 1500mhz on the GPU, overclocking of course, but your system is averaging 1100mhz and only peaking to 1266mhz. Seems pretty low.

The score isn't terrible by any means and doesn't justify the crazy poor performance of 15fps.

Something is definitely not right temperature wise though. The system may be needing a good clean out in general. Might be worthwhile taking the side panel off the case as I'm not convinced it looks ideal for airflow.

CPU temps aren't listed in the firestrike info. Did you note what they peaked at?

The whole kit and caboodle would be as below. All you would need to do would be to transfer your windows license and plug in your 970 GPU....

If you just wanted to sell on your system, including the GPU, the 1660 Super is what I would tend to select for your monitor/uses.

So are you saying my GPU is most likely broken? It does like i said spike to 90 for a few seconds then goes back to idling 75-80 which has only really happened since like 3-4 months back. The inside of the case doesn't look overly dusty and i have 3 extra fans in the case.

How much would you say i could get for my system if i was to sell it with the GPU included?
