10875h - shocking time spy results

Hi all

My laptop was returned last year to PC specialist as I had temp issues.

They tested and re applied thermal paste and set it was performing as it should.

I hardly game / use a lot of power so I don’t stress the laptop often.

As I may look to sell - I thought I’d run a benchmark test so I can show any potential buyer of how it’s performing

2070 super came back at 8155

CPU - 5800

Overall score was something like 7800 whilst the average is 8400 and some finish on 9000

CPU has a very poor result. I have toggled with power settings etc and ensured it’s all ready to be tested.

Any ideas? Or should I assume PC Specialist didn’t fully test ..

Thanks

A score like that on the CPU sounds more than thermal throttling. The GPU score is about right, maybe a tad low.

Might be worth having a read through the following thread...whilst it's a different model (Vyper vs Proteus), it is the same CPU and GPU so might be useful:

I would note that the poster in that thread resolved the issue by doing a Windows reinstall

Regardless, we definitely need to see if it's thermal throttling so you really need to run Timespy and check your temps with something like HWMonitor
Thanks. Actually I saw the other post and decided to re install windows yesterday, still the same results.

The first time I sent the laptop to PC S they said the heat sink had issues and they replaced.

Second time it will still bad and I actually played a game on a call with an agent on the line explaining how it was still throttling and temps were ridiculous high.

Returned, they just re applied paste and said it was ok.

As I haven’t played games since and assumed it was ok my warranty has now expired which Dosent help!

I’m continuously have to set max processor at 99% to keep things down.

You can check thermals with HWMonitor:

Any custom gaming laptop will need maintenance every year or so to maintain thermals which means taking off the heatsink and repasting and clearing out any dust, that's normal.
