128gb RAM Windows 11 Home Edition

I am upgrading my system RAM to 128gb and have been informed by one of the PC Specialist tech guys that I´ll need to upgrade my Windows 11 to Pro edition to support the higher RAM amount. When I questioned this (as Windows clearly states that 128g is the limit for the Home edition) he informed that the page file is included in the RAM limit.

I´m a bit confused as I have always read that Home supports up to 128gb and nowhere have I read that the page file is a factor. Has anyone here heard something similar or had any issues running Home with 128gb?

That is odd, I don’t know what the pagefile being included has any relevance to max RAM anyway, the page file is always included? But yes, home does support 128Gb.

I’m not sure what they’re meaning, may be worth getting some clarification

I would have thought any limit would be more related to motherboard and CPU

Yeah it does strike me as odd as well. Even if Windows documentation highlighted "128gb limit * including the page file", your average user would be confused as hell! But as it is there is no mention of the page file anywhere in the documentation. I am awaiting further clarification but I suspect it will be a non issue.

Can you post your full specs from the order page so we can check this out properly?

The total RAM supported has absolutely nothing to do with the page file, whoever told you that was confused. Whilst Windows 11 Home will support 128GB of RAM we'd need to check that the motherboard/CPU were happy with that figure as well.

Why do you need 128GB of RAM?
